Using lap top for Control panels

Hi chaps,If i want to use my laptop for the control dials for the aircraft then do i need to install fsx on the laptop aswell. Going to connect the laptop via crossover cable.Both desktop and laptop will be using XP.Any help will be of great use....Thanks,Dave...

VasFMC would be ideal, it communicate via WideFS to flightsim (FS9, FSX, X-plane with VasFMC plugin)If you mind to install FS on the laptop then you may use Wideview wich synchronize all running FS in different computers.RV

DaveComing back on this having re-read your post, what do you mean by 'control dials' - do you want to run a third-party software instrument display on your laptop, or do you mean you want to attach some hardware (e.g. Saitek panels) to your laptop? Either way, you need Simconnect and/or WideFS and the above thread links give you the relevent information to enable you to configure file sharing in Wondows XP, and installing Simconnect on your main and laptop computers.
