zooming out in the cockpit with 3 displays

Featured Replies

Hi,I run fsx with 3 displays, otherwise without any problem, but: with 3 displays the cockpit is so big and the instruments so close, that you can not look out of the window and look at the instrument at the same time. You can zoom out in the cockpit (and by far J 41 is the best cockpit for this) but it still has its limits: if you zoom out enough to see the out of the windows, the the back of the captains seat comes in and covers the instruments !! Is there any way to solve this problem? To fly with 3 displays is just fantastic..you really feel "you are the".....but you should really see out and see the full instrument panel to be able to fly. If there is no solution for this, then I have to go back to just one display?best regards,Gabor

My only thought is configure your outside displays for more of a side view than viewing straight ahead. This way, you'd be forced to zoom a bit up front. I've never had any experince with multi monitor displays though so I have no idea how one would go about this.

HiHave you considered a Triple Head to Go set up? FSX has native support with the software that comes with the hardware. I fly PMDG's 747 & the views are great straight out of the box, although I did try several screen resolutions before I was completely happy. From the screenshots of the 737NG I think it will be better suited than the 747 & like most people on here I can't wait for it's release.

Limitation of the simulator unfortunately - you can't change the horizontal field of view past what they set for single monitors...

HiQuick photo for you. This is at a resolution of 3840X1024 using Triple Head to Go.With some zooming I can a fantastic sense of speed, passing through clouds etc. These are 3 X 24" monitors.

Last photo, this is more how I see the image when flying. Previous one was taken well back to get the monitors in. I have to move my head as though in a real flight deck.

Have you set wideview to true in your fsx.cfg file? Also I find that the PMDG747 doesnt scale that well on 3 monitors , think its just because its not a very realisticly scaled VC hence why you get the window beam looking strange as seen in the posters pictures - the leveld767 and the JS41 scale excellently on 3 monitors both using TH2GO and eyeinfinity, hopefully we will get the same good scaling with the NGX also.Regards

dear James, thanks for your answer.! Where do I find fsx.cfg file??br Gabor

You see the whole front panel you need to use Wideview=1 in the FSX.cfg file. For my 3 26" front view ( icw TH2Go in 5040x1050 ) I made 2 folders : 1 called Jetflying and the other VFR flying. Both contain a fsx.cfg file customized for the way I want to fly. The one I use for Jetflying has Wideview=1.I set the zoom to 0.90 and then move the eyepoint to the correct place.Spotplaneview = 0.80 and Wingview=0.70 In Spotplane view you can zoom in on the aircraft using CTRL plus - without zooming in on the scenery.
