NGX will Retire Many Aircraft Addons

Featured Replies

The NGX will be a huge leap for mankind and although I will continue to fly my 747,MD11 and J41 and probably also a few others from choice developers, many of my airplane addons are heading for the boneyard.Below is a picture of my retired airplane addons, that will be a direct result of my NGX purchase :( :MohaveDesertAirplaneBoneyard.jpg

Hahahaha... you caught me with this one. I've been trying to figure the one you will be retiring but it seem that you'll do same as I - retire all of them :( ...

I think the only other addon that comes close visual wise at the moment is the Aerosoft Airbus (not sytems wise by any means), both this and the NGX are beautiful models inside and out.

The Aerosoft Airbus.:( They did not even get the angle of the backup instruments right.

TBH, this just got me to check out its screenshots and I while I refuse to compare it to any other existing or coming up add-ons, I will admit I think it's quite a fine model. I have not measured the screenshots if it fits Airbus design specs but just from the looks I think they seem to have taken their time to put detail into the model. Alright, admittedly the interior simply looks CGI style (mostly thanks to textures), plus all the textures are not as crisp. But still, look at those wing views, the flaps, slats and spoilers (check out #8 on that page). I think they actually have a fair amount of very nice detail. The cockpit interior, all 3D switches and buttons--- err sorry, pushbuttons. I do understand this is not a system simulator and rather aimed at the 'average' simmer that simply doesn't want to go that deep into specific details. But especially considering that, I feel it's a nice piece of work. Again, no comparison, I simply won't do it. Just my .02$. :(sig.gif

Ok, maybe my criticism was a bit harsh. But what really was a problem for me apart from the incomplete FMGS and VNAV is that they did not implement a separation of cockpit lighting and instrument back lighting. It is just lights on and off like in my living room. That is in my opinion not enough for a payware addon plane.:(

only a couple come close as far as cockpit quality, the A2A Spitfire being one of them. But I cant for the life of me take the spitfire 3000 miles with 150 passengers at 41000ft!. Also the 737 is rubbish as a VFR aircraft lol.Im keeping my spitfire and Katana for that. the 737NGX -600/700/800/900 will fill every other possible flight I might want to make.

The Captain Sim stuff looks pretty good... buggy as heck... but good looking.

Ha, ha :( , actually I do have two. One download from Captain Sim and one DVD from JustFlight. What's pictured there was all of my liveries. They strip the paint off of them.

And this is why no add-ons actually will actually be retired. I own a CS plane, and I love-hate it. Love the look, love the retro flying, hate the bugs. But I still fly from time to time because I love parts of it (like the FE station, for instance). Once I gave up on the plane as too buggy, I certainly don't fly it very often, but I've been flying the Queen a lot lately after probably 5 months of just flying the J41. Like any new shiny toy, I'll fly the NGX a lot, but it isn't like I'm going to delete everything else.

Nevermind addon aircraft being retired, it looks like many may finally retire FS9!
