July 23, 201114 yr Nevermind addon aircraft being retired, it looks like many may finally retire FS9! Do not start that please... we will all regret when FS9 guys come here to cry. Ljubomir P. July 23, 201114 yr Got a big addon fleet too! Although the NGX will be the peak of it, I promise I'll return to every single one of them!Love every category of aircraft, basically I'll fly anything that's got wings! (though none with rotating wings!)I believe there are good developers in each category, though no one like PMDG!Best ------------------------ Mattias Nordin ESOW
July 23, 201114 yr its impossible and grosely unfair to compare PMDG NGX to ANYTHING out there that ever has existed in flightsim, because of PMDG im willing to park my FS9 and fly only FSX even if it means flying all default scenery and no weather, thanks again PMDG! :D Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." July 23, 201114 yr In terms of systems I can only think of one aircraft that has come close, an Italian MD-80. I love that plane. In terms of visuals, other than that A320, nothing comes close. At all. Period.
July 23, 201114 yr I think my Ifly737 will end up in my boneyard :( Pete Richards I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988. July 23, 201114 yr Oh c'mon, you knew the iFly would be obsolete the second the NGX is available for purchase. No contest. AJ Pongress

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

July 23, 201114 yr The PMDG 737NGX will be the most realistic short haul jetliner in my hangar, and because of that, it will be the only short haul jetliner in my hangar until a good Airbus A320 is released (Either the Advanced Aerosoft one or the FSLabs one). All other short haul jetliners will be retired, including the iFly 737NG and probably all A320 releases I have, but also many feel there stuff, including the ERJ-145 series. July 23, 201114 yr Errr care to elaborate? :( Do you know this bird? Every little circuitbraker is moddeled, it has all the maintenance stuff, and you can even damage the aircraft when you do things wrong and then you must repair it.Although I konw that it's difficould to compare a GA aircraft to a jet like the 737 you can beleave me that it's really an addon which has similar quality than PMDG!Although a slow GA aircraft the 'Digital Aviation DO-27' takes some beating for detail.I think it has been beaten by the Katana 4X already. But I don't own the DO27, so I can't tell for sure. But the DO27 is an FS9 aircraft and the Katy is FSX only. I'm sure it has many effects the DO27 doesn't have.Just as an example: When you have the canopy opened too long (or if you have opened the windows in the canopy) flys can appear and fly through your aircraft and sit down on the instrument panel. You can even squash those flys if they disturb you^^But anyway, let's stop this discussion befor this thread gets looked because it goes too far offtopic (which it actually is already^^) Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
July 23, 201114 yr I'm planning on having just two aircraft in my FSX hangar: 737NGX for domestic hops and 747-400 for international. TBH, this just got me to check out its screenshots and I while I refuse to compare it to any other existing or coming up add-ons, I will admit I think it's quite a fine model. I have not measured the screenshots if it fits Airbus design specs but just from the looks I think they seem to have taken their time to put detail into the model. Alright, admittedly the interior simply looks CGI style (mostly thanks to textures), plus all the textures are not as crisp. But still, look at those wing views, the flaps, slats and spoilers (check out #8 on that page). I think they actually have a fair amount of very nice detail. The cockpit interior, all 3D switches and buttons--- err sorry, pushbuttons. I do understand this is not a system simulator and rather aimed at the 'average' simmer that simply doesn't want to go that deep into specific details. But especially considering that, I feel it's a nice piece of work. Again, no comparison, I simply won't do it. Just my .02$. :( It's a shame the systems aren't modeled in more detail on that A320. That's a fantastic model, but it's worthless if the systems aren't fully operational. July 23, 201114 yr I think it's kinda funny how some of you stated that the Katana is on par with the NGX, while others say it isn't. Truth is, most of us haven't been able to "play" with the NGX at all.Nothing personal, just sayin'...If I remember correctly, one of the devs or testers has said that the NGX too will feature damage & maintenance. I'm not saying the Katana isn't on par with the NGX, I'm still contemplating whether or not to buy it, but according to me, it's pretty hard to make the statement in itself.
