PMDG 737NGX Pricing and Availability

Featured Replies

I was expecting a price of around $90 so that's knocked me right on my a*s. For anyone thinking this may be expensive I would like to point out that is is really not much more expensive than a game like Call of Duty, which doesn't have half the lifespan. For your money you get what is effectively a newly built Boeing 737NGX, an absolute steal at a mere $69.99.
FYI call of duty backops was £40 when I got it a few months ago (dont play it much though) at the current exchange rate the NGX will be £42. And it will last 90x longer hehe.

I also agree with the above comments about the price, a simple airport scenery package almost cost 50 U.S. bucks, also for the people that don't live in America our debt crisis is getting worse so I wouldn't be surprised if PMDG waits until this gets settled. Also does anyone know if the FPS will be better on this plane rather than the MD-11 and 747-400 as they were a little more frame rate hungry?
Your question, from what I know, can only be answered when the "debugging code" has been removed but from what I have heard, they say it is on par with MD-11 :)

If its frames are as good or better then my ifly version ill be happy.

Anyone know how to be in the running for a copy of the NGX being given away by VATSIM?

Matthew Bellette

i know what you mean. I had originally planned to buy the MD-11 but was advice to wait as people thought the NGX was near to completion. I can honestly say after reading the beta posts and seeing the videos i am so glad i did.
I agree that the 737NGX is probably a great addon but make no mistake so is the PMDG MD-11. Given the fact that they are two totally different aircraft, I do not think that one or the other is a reason to to decide not to purchase one of them because either way, you lose. IMHO which ever one you purchase, start saving for the other.Regards,

I couldn't agree with you more, post NGX I will get the MD-11.

hmm.. Seems pretty pricey. You know what they say sometimes its better to dream than to live what you have wanted ^.^
I would pay 5 times that amount for this plane !! Maybe you would prefer the Boeing software which only cost about 1 million euros ??

Shhhhh!!!!!! If everyone keeps this up they will raise the price (which I don't want) LOL
Am I able to buy and try the aircraft through flight1?
To answer the other part of your question, PMDG don't do refunds on downloadable products so no you can't buy and try, you just buy.

Please....I'm just curious, you folks that think this NGX is too "pricey", what kind of price tag would you expect to see on it? Before you answer, let's consider that this in not just a visually stunning model. It is another world better than what your used to downloading for free on the Avsim Library. This is a 737 simulation that duplicates all of the systems of an $80.8 million commercial airliner that uses dedicated computers that run no other program but the one it was designed for, but the NGX has to run on your home PC, which may be configered a number of different ways, with one of several operating systems. This NGX will accurately calculate extremely complex algorithms on VNAV path and speed, plus tanslate your mouse turning knobs and flipping switches. It is not something that is using the (puke) default FSX, GPS that your so used to on the freeware aircraft. This is a 737 simulation that around 14 professionals have been working on for about three years, many times putting in long hours into the night. It is not something that an amature student has been working on after school for the last three months. This is a 737 that does not use the FSX default 2D flight panel that your so used to in the freeware aircraft, but a highly detailed 3D cockpit that doesn't loose an ounce of clearity anywhere you look, right down to the circuit breakers. I can go on and on, but you get my drift. Now go ahead and put the price on it that you would have expected to see.Not that it matters, but I'm just really curious to know how much you were expecting? When I heard the price, I was amazed at how reasonable it was and I still am. I expected it to cost so much more. Bob

I think the price is fine. Go out for a night and you spend more. The NGX is much cheaper than I tought and will give a hell of more entertainment than a stupid nightclub or whatever people do these days!!!!!!

Brent Lewis

The price is downright shockingly low, after all the buildup these past few months. The 3d model alone, they could charge thousands if sold on the free market, and there is a market for these kinds of models.PMDG are smart, they apparently did their due diligence, and considering the niche market that is flight sim, they have picked the right price. They are sure to make a tidy profit from charging a lower price but selling tons of volume.

The base package is cheaper than the MD-11. Both include two models... and it's the NGX. It's a steal in my book

I was very surprised by the price of initial pack. I have expected much, much more... Ahh, I have submited report on you Dario instead of quoting... Sorry for that to you and moderators I'm such an idiot. It's that new layout too, but it's mainly my mistake of course! Regards,
