August 4, 201114 yr hi all Just a quick question here, what would be best to use steel or carbon brakes? And does anyone know what KLM uses for there NG's? thanks jeffrey Jeffrey.O 777-300ER KLM
August 4, 201114 yr Author sorry, don't know what that means (Brembo)? thought that there was an option between those two steel or carbon brakes cheers Jeffrey.O 777-300ER KLM
August 4, 201114 yr Hey Jeffrey, i'm not familiar with KLM at all, however, what i DO think is that airlines might select different configurations for their fleet. At least that's what I THINK, feel free to correct me. Might vary from plane to plane. If you have the chance to, i suggest you ask a KLM pilot on your next flight when you get to see him in the end of the flight or when boarding. A. O. I think pmdg has simulated both carbon and steel. Edit: Just saw you asked what brakes KLM use. Sorry. Wouldnt have a clue. Cameron Lett

August 4, 201114 yr The difference is that carbon brakes dissipate heat easier than steel brakes if I am correct. Carbon brakes are better wear resistant and above that are lighter,.... so overal carbon brakes are much better in my eyes
August 4, 201114 yr But they are quite a bit more expensive: several sports cars have them as an option running in the 10000-15000€ price range. I'd think that on an aircraft the price difference would be quite impressive. Fabrizio Sassi

That indeed is something I didn't think about Choice probably depends on how often/hard they are used and procedures of airliners.
