D.O.S silly attack. But this holds a 10 jail sentence here in the uk! What about the us?

Featured Replies

Guys just been reading about the d.o.s attack only to find this about the law of it here in the uk?? In the Police and Justice Act 2006, the United Kingdom specifically outlawed denial-of-service attacks and set a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Could PMDG sue the person/s resposible for loss of earnings ect for this attack as i dont know how things work in the us, i also know that the attack is coming from china so what are the chances of you of actualy chatching the person/s who have done this. PMDG, someone obviously has great jelousy or some grudge or this wouldnt be happening, maybe some peolpe shouldnt enter in to buisness if they cant handle the compition (This is not directed at anybody just stating as this kind of attack has happend before to other big companys too). Anyway good luck guys i know youll sort this out, i realy dont mind weighting so more time. Danny

Why do people waste their time doing something so stupid. What can you get out of this? I still can't get on the server to buy this product that I waited so long ago. When I get the 737, I'll fly it to China and find this weasel and hit him with an eggroll.

The question is how much it would cost in finding the people who have done it and if it is right that this came from China this might just be a tad difficultas you won't get any support from the government on this.So why waste your earnings on something that will be useless. And the guys have earned and deserve every penny they make of this product.

^Don't know if they'll be able to catch whoever is behind this, but I'd sure be happy to see some punishment of some sort, I mean this is just so petty.

The problem isa) to find the responsibles, as the attackes are mainly bot networks. If you don't take care of your computer you can be part of a bot network too without even knowing it. If i would ever come into this situation i would not like to be sued for that ;) :( how to handle criminal acts across borders? If the initiator is from a different country you would have a lot of trouble to find out who it was and if the government cooperates with the own.

Good luck to find those hackers in PRC using British penal law!

I don't think so,... In China it is appearently very normal that people download hacked products from the net etc without paying what so ever. I believe I read this on the aerosoft forum or so... But it is highly accepted there that things get hacked, so I wouldn't be surprised if you'd have a hacked-version coming up the following days on some kind of torrent-site. A shame tough, as you have more fun and enjoy the product much longer when you paid for it with your own hard-owned money...

do not know why the most famous hacking incidents originate from china, may be they are now masters not only in kungfu but also in hacking, pmdg should employ some Chinese guys in their next project if they have to stop these kind of activities in future, may be with airbus opening a factory in china ,they wanted to screw up a rival aircraft!!!!!!!!!,what are the chances of catching them-remote,they have messed around with bigger govt. web sites recently and got away with it,or may be pmdg should come up with a chinese version so that they can then pay and buy one instead of using pirated versions.vivek anand

The DDoS attacks can't gain access to the server, they basically flood the server with millions of connections resulting in no one else being able to connect.I'd imagine PMDG spent a while making sure they have the correct measures in place to protect against piracy of their product so hopefully it would won't be seeing any cracked versions.

torrents are not to fear..... in asia there are mafia who steal software, burne it, package them in a "very own" box and sell them like a prof. company- thats the real pirate threat for companies....

There were a few arrests over here in the UK recently - couple of teenagers if I can recall correctly it was to do with the Playstation problem earlier this year, they were joint FBI/Scotland Yard ops. But that wouldnt happen in China.
