How to Turn on the great flashy strobes light .

Hi there, My missing switches are still missing, I havn't been able to find a solution. I have submitted a support ticket to PMDG but I still have not had any response, i guess they are very busy at the moment. Do your lights show from the external view? Although my switches are missing, I seem to be able to click on them, and hear the click noise. However when I go to the external view, the actual lights do not show up on the external model. Try this.

  1. Using your livery manager, uninstall the livery that you are using.
  2. Download the same livery from the PMDG web site (many have been replaced with revised versions)
  3. Using your livery manager, reinstall the livery using the new livery you downloaded

Let us know how this works out.

I do not have any liveries installed at present, just the PMDG house liveries. I will try downloading a livery a.s.a.p and see whether the switches are present. Is there any livery in particular that has been recently replaced that you recommend? Thanks Barrie Davies

Hi All If I turn on the landings lights the A/C is lit up, but there is no effect on the ground. The LOGO-ligths works just fine.( Nice lighting of the tail-finn). The navigation lights, both the green and the red, are VERY weak (bordering to not being there at all) and the same goes for the strobes.Besides the missing switches on the overhead panel (Runway turn off, Taxi, APU, LOGO, Position, Anti collision) the switch for lighting til magnetic compass is missing and the stalks on the switches on the fuel pumps panel and the navigation (NAV, IRS, FMC) panel and the wing and eng. anti ice, probe heat panel and also the light/test switch on the front panel. I do too fly with the PMDG house liveries, having not gotten around to trying out the livery manager yet. I really hope you can help out.

Hi all I think I have solved some of the problem.I tried to launch the Livery manager but it could not find the directory of FSX. Because of that I tried to reinstall FSX and SP1. Then i uninstalled SP2 and reinstalled it again and voila when I load the 737 the switches are all there - but when I turn on the landing lights they light up the ground only when seen from the ouside not from from the inside of the cockpit in virtual 3D cockpit - in the 2D cockpit you can see the lights lighting up the ground. Hope this can help.

My switches are missing from the panel and my external strobes and collision light etc do not work, does anyone else have this problem? Barrie Davies
I've been staring at this picture trying to figure out why this is happening. What I see is that any item that has a reflection map on it is not showing, which makes me wonder if this is some kind of driver issue, or graphics card setting, or more simply, a corrupt fsx.cfg. One thing you can try is to backup your fsx.cfg (rename it to fsx.bak or something similar), start FSX, and let it rebuild it. Report back and let me know if this solves your issue.

I have tried what you suggested with the cfg file. I let it get rebuilt but the same problem of missing switches remained. Are there any graphics settings you can recommend altering? I current have an Nvidia 9600GT 512mb graphics card running driver version 275.33 (8.17.12.7533) Thanks for any help, Barrie Davies

I have found that by checking the box Preview direct x 10 in the settings menu of flight sim the switches reapper and the outside lights are visible. However there is a severe performance degrade when this is selected so I do not want to run the game with this box checked. I have never had to check it for any of your other models such as 747 or md11. Does this need to be checked for the ngx, your manuals also state that: "Turn setting off. DX10 does not significantlyenhance the visual quality of the simulator and it exacts a heavyperformance toll in the simulator." Thanks Barrie Davies

Really? I want to load up my sim and see if that really happens. I haven't picked up on it yet.
