decisions...decisions...MegaScenery Southern California or FlyTampa San Diego?

Featured Replies

I really don't know which one to get :| if you guys could post some screenshots that would help :] thanks.

How's this? Climbing out of KSAN.Hans Groenewold

KSAN by Fly Tampa is excellent and integrates perfectly with Megascenery. If you can only get one right now, I would go with Megascenery (a patch is one the way to fix some issues), then plug in KSAN when you can. ;)

Feel free to check out my collection of Megascenery shots athttp://www.beyondthefringe.com/simfotos/The secret (especially with the Southern California Megascenery) is to limit the visibility to 20 or 30 miles for added realism. This way you can disable your 'Extend Terrain Texture' switch for better perfomance. I noticed that just a while back, Megascenery's own website updated all of their gallery promo shots to include haze by limiting visibility, and it looks much better than their original promo shots when product was first released.Enjoy !John M

John, dumb question prolly, and it might be right in front of me but my FS9 folder is in the process of being compressed, but how do you limit visibility?Btw, I have a registered copy of fsuipc.Thx!billg

Hi Bill,I usually do two things. First is to set visibility in your weather menu to anything but 'unlimited'. (for L.A. I like 10-30 miles max) The next thing depending on how high you fly is to set an upper visibility limit (in your advanced weather menu) to a level higher than your cruise altitude. The negative of this is that it will limit your total visibility to whatever you have it set at, (20 miles for example) but this is fine for Megascenery VFR flying. Keep in mind with the registered FSUIPC you can utilize the graduated visibility feature for better results.Take care,John M

thx john. I'll give it a go. This is my tweaking day, hehe.billg

Good post, billgPeter Sydney Australia

Wouldn't using "Real Weather" achieve the same effect rather than having to customize all weather settings? With all of LA's haze & smog I would think that would cut down visability.

Ideally yes, but I have had trouble in the past with some real weather updates all of the sudden showing 'unlimited' visibility. without gradual transitions I personally will not use this feature. I don't have the registered FSUIPC, so maybe transitions are smoother with this, although at this point some users of ActiveSky are still having problems with abrupt cloud changes. Until these abrupt changes are rectified, I will take the time to assign specific weather along the flightpath making gradual changes at each station. Yes, it is a real pain doing it this way.
