iPad as the FMS CDU on the NGX App

Featured Replies

Yes the PC must be connected to the same network that the iPad is using to connect wirelessly.

Cheers, Andy.

Of course, the pc is connectet to the same network. but with cable. the i pad connects wireless. In the tasbar bar it shows the ipad, but when i click on connect, nothing happens to the ipad. it just remains with the installing instructions of the air display app...

Would anyone be willing to post a pic or two of the CDU running on the iPad? I'm presently waiting for my Ipad to arrive and this would be one of its primary uses. Thanks!

Sry, i cant because its not working ;)

It was working until I started FSX, and when I did, Win 7 said that my graphics card could not support it (it did before - ATI 5750). Now I can't strt FSX at all, even when Airdisplay is turned off. just great...Anyone kow how I can get rid of it on my PC? Henri Win 7 Pro, I7, ATI 5750, 8 Gb memory, terabytes of free disk space. Henri Edit: I did a system restore to just before I installed Airdisplay, and FSX now seems to work OK, and you can bet your sweet patootie I am not going to install it again - I will have to do with my 27-inch screen at 2540 resolution...

Hi - I can drag the FMC to airdisplay, but the window just turns black, like it's not updating :-( Anyone had the same issue and found a solution ? Thanks :-)

You have to leave at least 1 row of pixels from the FMC on your main monitor and the rest can go on the iPad. I arrange the monitor layout so that the iPad is above the main monitor then you can have that 1 row of pixels on the main FSX window title bar, its out of the way there and not wasting any screen space. I found the latest version of Air Display to be a little unstable at times and it ends up blocking any button presses on the mouse if it does become unstable. It can be really difficult to get control of your mouse back. I've purchased a proper touch screen monitor as a second display now, its much more reliable and has a heck of a lot more screen real-estate. Dell ST2220T

Cheers, Andy.

Hi Andydigital Thanks for your responce. I'm having a lot of problems with the Airdisplay driver for windows 7, and have now uninstalled it :-(

Apple gave me my money back. Airdisplay doesnt work. Other options?

From where I'm sitting, the ideal solution would be for PMDG to make an API/interface that allows CDU button presses to be sent to the simulator, and the current contents of the CDU display to be retrieved. Then any third party could write a simple interface that acts as a remote front end for the CDU, without having to touch the internals of the NGX and without messing with Windows display settings e.g. networked external monitor. But it would be great to hear from PMDG about this, I don't know how difficult it would be to implement

You found the secret Andydigital!!!!...leave at least 1 row of pixels from the FMC on your main display and the rest on the iPad...touch screen works like a dream but effects mouse movement (jittery and laggy) in other screens (but I'm running a total of 5 screens with the iPad)...small price to pay for this great added feature!!! What is the matter with you guys!!! Doh.gifYou don't see anything more important for PMDG to do than make an app for your Ipads? LOL.gif There are way more important things for them to worry about than making an apps for the Apple Store. Judging by all other traffic in this forum related to Support Issues, your going to be waiting a very long time! Whistle.gifLast time I checked PMDG was working with the PC Platform. Loser.gif

When the hardware SDK is released, all the stuff should be there. All you need is a windows driver that will communicate with the iPod/iPad/iPhone over a network and anyone can write the App...not just PMDG.
