Low FPS on Macbook Pro - Bootcamp

Ok, so I bought the NGX, thinking I'd suffer a bit of FPS loss compared to MD11 I own. With the MD I'd get around low twenties using middle to high settings and addon Aerosoft Scenery. But with the NGX, it's useless. I can only get decent FPS while using the 2D panel, and putting the settings all to the far left. Problem is, the 2D panel itself isn't sufficient to fly, for example, putting the flaps out it's nearly impossible. I have run my fsx.cfg file through the website the introduction manual mentions.Running Windows 7, 32 bit, with this hardware,Core 2 Duo 2.53Ghz4GB RAM DDR3NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB shared with RAMNow, this is a laptop, I'm aware the only upgrades I can make are to upgrade the RAM to 8GB (?) and change the OS to 64 bit. Would that be enough to increase the FPS count to a playable level? Or I better just go broke and buy a half decent desktop? I'm always on the move...Cheers,Luís Raimundo

Hmm. I'm running it under bootcamp using Vista 64 bit pro and am getting anything between 12-25FPS. My specs are better than yours. Have you tried turning down the scenery settings and all that?

Hello Luis, I have the late 2010 Mac Book Pro, with the Core i7 2,8Ghz. The actually the fastest MBP before the Sandy Bridge CPU came out.If you want to fly at a decent level, you have to lower your settings and resolution.(By the way, which Aerosoft Scenery did you use? The newer ones are VERY demanding!) What GPU with how much GPU Ram do you have?(Edit: Missed that in the original post. GPU is a little short of RAM I suppose.) Anyway, I find the overall performance of the MBP very poor, at least in Bootcamp. A friend of mine has the newest top-notch MAc Book Pro and can't get decent framerates with ANY add-on plane. (By the way: Performance will NOT get better with 64bit OS, I think it's Bootcamp related....) Jens End of the story was, that I got myself a nice i5 Desktop machine, see specs below.

PS I am using a 2 x 2.8ghz quad core Mac Pro by the way, with 4GB ram and 512 video ram.

Simply your machine is not good for fsx, notebooks are not good for simulations or gaming in general, the problem is the low CPU frequency and the card

PMDG have posted a note on their first page that recommends a Win 7 64 bit computer and a high level graphics card for this simulation. I am playing it under bootcamp with an I7 quad on a 27-inch Imac with a 5450 graphics card at 2450 resolution, and I get pretty good frame rates, but I would not expect too much from any notebook computer. Henri did you have any problems getting the magic mouse to work in bootcamp?

I don't like the magic mouse and I use a Logitech mouse with a wheel, but I don't see why it would not work. Henri

have driver issues - how do you install a driver from mac to windows, anyone?trying to install the update (3.2) that should fix it. but haven't ever done this through the mac platform
