Opencockpits EFIS- MCP integration with B737 NGX

Hi, I am opening a new thread so those of us that have any Opencockpit hardware like EFIS, MCP etc. can read about the devolpment and progress regarding integrating OC hardware and SIOC software with the B737-800 NGX via the awating SDK from PMDG. My question #1 to PMDG: When will you release the SDK so we can start working with the OC drivers? Any news related to this issue, please use this thread. Roar Kristensen

i saw at least 3 threads today asking for a release date for the SDK.. just wait or check the forum next time.

Hi Roar Maybe you can help me or give me some advice. I am thinking of buying some hardware from Opencockpits. I have read a few people not being happy with the products. On the other hand I have seen a lot of stuff written about the hardware not being plug and play and no one really knows on what software to use to get it going.Can you maybe give me some advide on the hardware if it is the right thing to buy for me. Hi Ian, My experience with Opencockpits hardware is very good. Everything works as it should and I am going to continue building my cockpit with OC hardware. I built my MCP after buying panels, printed boards and components from OC. If you have a good knowledge of hardware and software this is a OK route, butnot recommended if you have no experience of soldering, testing. software/script modification etc. If you buy the assembled MCP, EFIS etc. they will work with no problems as long as you have a script file for a specific FSX airplane. You need to have the SIOC software running in order to have the hardware working with the FSX. SIOC is Opencockpits very powerful scrips language and there is ready scripts for IFly B737 and LevelD 767. With those scripts I will say OpencockpitsHW like MCP and EFIS is plug and play, but only for mentioned airplanes When PMDG releases their SDK there will be a script soon after. You will not be able to use any MCP HW with PMDG before they releases their SDK and someone is building the right scripts/drivers. But, when it is done, the OC HW will be plug anf Play. rgs, Roar Kristensen

Thx Roar for answering. Things seem to get more complicated for me. I have now seen that the OC one is not really identical with the new PMDG one and GoFlight have one that looks more like it as it has the SPD INTV and ALT INTV. But now the question is if I go with that one can I use another EFIS as the one from GoFlight is not what i was looking for as well as the one from OC. I have to say the one from CPFlight looks the part but will they work togerther? Thx Ian

It sure is !! I work full time now in cockpit building for the aviation training sector. FDS for all your Panels.CP Flight for MCP, EFIS and CDU. I have tried and used all the others many times.

HI I have the ALT INTV and SPEED INTV functions programmed on the ALT and SPEED knobs. When pushing the knobs they acts as INTV buttons. So I have all the functionallityas the PMDG software version. I really hope that PMDG can release the SDK soon. rgs, Roar K

Hi Roar KAre you saying you have the Opencockpits MCP and using the push on the Heading and Altitude rotaries for the INTV commands ? I'm asking as I also have the OC MCP and think I remember asking Manuel years ago about the push buttons on those rotaries and he said they weren't connected. Also if I run the MCP_test.exe application and press either rotary I see no reponse in the test application, so how are you detecting that press on a rotary ?

Hi, I have made my OC MCP from IOCARDS,panels and components and also connected the push buttons of IAS and Altitude switches the the IOCARD. For an PLUG&PLAY OC MCP I would do it like it is explained at this WEB site http://www.lekseecon.nl/mcp.html rgs,Roar K

Hi again, For those of you that have an Opencocpits MCP and FSUIPC ( paid version) I have a SIOC script and a FSUIPC config file to share. All switches, buttons and rotary knobs worksfine with the B737 NGX and it is so much more realistic to fly this plane. As PMDG has not come out with the SDK I have not been able to have the displays working, but everything elseis OK. I will install the EFIS later this week and that should work without the SDK. I really hope PMDG can provide us with the MCP display information this week with the SDK. As soon as they do I will update the SIOC script. It is so much more fun to fly with hardware. AS I have build my MCP you have to modify the inputs number to YOUR input numbers in the SIOC text file before compiling with config_sioc, copy the FSUIPC config file to the Modules folderin FSX and
