August 10, 201114 yr This was mentioned in another topic, but the liveries contain airline specific equipment. If you select an airline that has it IRL, it will show up in the sim. Joe Sherrill
August 10, 201114 yr I think virgin Australia has started to use them in their new aircraft. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
August 11, 201114 yr I don't believe Ryanair use them, and being the absolute tightass that he is I doubt O'Leary would go to the expense of having them fitted. Actually I'm surprised he doesn't charge the crew to fly with them, never mind giving them an HGS Trevor Hunt

So that theory holds no water if I'm not mistaken. Though I cracked the same joke using a Ryanair livery before I thought about it. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 11, 201114 yr Scandinavian airlines use them. I have the SAS737 vid and the captain was using it all the time and said what a great tool it is for the airline. August 11, 201114 yr Author Scandinavian airlines use them. I have the SAS737 vid and the captain was using it all the time and said what a great tool it is for the airline. I agree. I've heard about pilots who become completely dependent on flying with them and have a hard time adapting back to having to look down on the panel. Isaac Magalhaes

True - a friend of mine flies NGs for a major carrier - he said the same thing, it's cheaper because APs are more expensive to keep certified. Christoph Kühne

He's still a tightass who will screw you out of every last penny he can, c'mon he even tried to get out of his obligations as a carrier during the volcano groundings. I do realise though that a lot of what he says is purely to shock people into giving him free advertising whether good or bad. I have flew with them many a time because I'm aware of how to dodge the "extras", and get the cheap flights....well I did until they pulled out of Belfast, so now I can't anymore. Trevor Hunt

Actually I'm surprised he doesn't charge the crew to fly with them, never mind giving them an HGS I don't think any airline fits a HGS simply because the pilots like them - they only put them in if they believe it will save money (i.e. cost of cancellations etc). But maybe Ryanair uses the display for commercials in addition to the standard HGS symbols ... August 11, 201114 yr I cannot believe the HGS is not more widespread in aviation. Its a brilliant tool and puts the infomation you need right where you need it.
