ILS autotune

Hi, This is just me being curious..... I know the MD-11 autotunes its ILS frequency etc but is there a way to manual enter the frequencey and heading, much like a Boeing aircraft. thanks Alan

The RAD button on the FMC gives you access to the radio pages where you can manually tune stuff in.

Yes it is posible to hand tune the MD11 but you should not use that. A correct autland is only possible when the autotune does his job.But you can tune all navs on the NAV RAD page in the CDU. Best regards Jonathan

manual ILS freq. input is needed when (for example) the scenery (meaning navaids) do not correspond with AIRAC. And usually this happens when you first fly to new airport. :D

It would not normally be necessary to tune the ILS manually, but you can certainly autoland if it is done. There's no need to auto tune for an autoland. paul
