NGX Navdata

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if the NGX shares the same navdata and sidstar data with other PMDG products e.g. B744? I’ve added the VHHX procedures to the PMDG NavData including sidstars and it works fine with the B744. With the NGX It will allow me to input the airport into the FMC but will not show either of the runways or any of the procedures. Thanks

The NGX uses the same navdata. For the time being at least...

Did you know when you update your AIRACS the info is lost and you have to re-enter it? Check to see that you still have all the info below. VHHX Tutorial for PMDG Planes. Unzip the file and place the VHHX.txt file into the \FSX\PMDG\SIDSTARS folder. (VHHX_V9.ZIP from Navigraph Website)http://www.navdata.at/ FSX Instructions: Find the Folder \FSX\PMDG\Navdata 1) Open file wpNavAPT.txt, and add following to lines to the end of file, then save it. HONG KONG KAI TAK VHHX13 10930136 22.321667 114.196667111.9008800015HONG KONG KAI TAK VHHX31 10930316 22.305500 114.214500109.9031600015 It is Very Important that you line up the coordinates with the other entries in the above file. If you do not line them up neatly like the other Coordinate entries then you will not see the SID/STARs in the FMC. The Coordinates start after the Runway numbers and you can use the space bar to push them over till they line up with the other coordinate entries. 2) Open file Airports.dat using Notepad or other text editor, and add following line: VHHX 22.316667 114.203333

it appears there as been some changes to the navdata and what now needs to be included in the VHHX.TXT for the NGX to be able to understand it - seems the NAVAID function been removed and now those NAVAIDS need to be specified as FIX's - also the decimal accuraccy as changed to. Seems this method is backwards compatible with the older PMDG a/c but not how the NGX reads things - http://www.austscene.com/ That site provides an excellent tool for putting VHHX back in when you do a NAVDATA upgrade its available for the PMDG and also the levelD - however hes still in the process of updating it to reconfigure for the NGX so wont work for the moment. Hes done all the Australlian ones. Hopefully he will have it up shortly.

Here is a working set of instructions for getting the VHHX info into the 737ngx FMC. I just had to update mine and its working exactly as it was before the NGX install. This was obtained from another forum elsewhere. I have also attached a copy of the instructions at the bottom of my post. No problem Peace.gif I just completed my first IGS 13 approach with the NGX using the new navdata, worked like a charm. I thought Id also attach the completed VHHX.txt file for the SID/STAR as well so nobody else would have to copy and pasted it all into their own new text file. Just paste this file into the PMDG SID/STAR folder:

Thank you to everyone who contributed this information. I recently spent some time in a 737NG AATD. One of the things we did was fly the short hop from the new airport into Kai Tak. The overall fun prompted me to set up a home system, around the PMDG 737NG package, and the fun (and challenge) of the Kai Tak approach made it something I really wanted available.

Folks

If you go to  http://www.vapap.com/ you will find installers for FS9, FSX and P3D3 to give you SIDs, STARs and Approaches for VHHX

I believe they are working fine with Airac 1701 (Navigraph)  If you have any issues contact the author via the VAPAP email,

Cheers
