NGX issues

HiI have had the freeze issues and thankfully the Hotfix seems to have cured that. I have also had problems with my Go Flight throttles setting a too high N1 and together with the A/T tripping out on the climb. So I decided to use my Saitek throttle quadrant and all those problems disappeared. Am wondering if the Go Flight throttles may have contributed to the "freeze problem"? I have also upgraded my CPU to an i7 2600K o/c to 4.2GHz together with a new M/B and Corsair H70 cooler. This afternoon I o/c to 4.4GHz. This only resulted in the dreaded blue screen. I then reset my CPU to 4.2GHz and everything appears fine. Now I thought I had the cooling sorted out, but I remembered that the company that did the upgrade gave me the Intel CPU box and the box seemed heavy. So I looked inside and found the CPU fan in there. I would have thought that it should have been fitted and am wondering if that too could have contributed to the "freeze problem". Am also concerned that even o/c to 4.2 may have damaged the CPU. I upgraded about 5 weeks ago and have had quite a few problems in setting up FSX since. I have gone on too long but a lot of people on this forum know a lot more about computers than I do; so it would be cool to hear your views on the above. BTW I intend to get the people who did the upgrade to sort this out but I would like to be armed with as much information as possible when I contact them. Thanks

The H70 cooler replaces the stock fan, which is probably why the company that did your upgrade left it in the CPU box.If your 2600K had no cooling at all, it would have burned up within minutes the very first time you powered up the system - overclock or not.

If you're curious, pop off the side cover of your computer. You'll see the H70 heatsink mounted to your CPU, with small coolant hoses running to the actual heat exchanger (radiator) mounted most likely on the back wall of the case.The heatsink attaches where the original stock CPU fan used to mount.

Turn off HyperThreading if you still have it on. FSX and HT on the i5/i7 don't work well. When it is enabled my i7 920 OCed@4Ghz, it will blue screen.

Thanks Jim I was there when they did the upgrade and I now remember that it looked just as you described. Michael I will investigate the Hyperthreading issue so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
