August 14, 201114 yr Hi, Not to be rude, but if it's been asked many many many times before, why not just read those other threads? One big reason is that new stuff is constantly being uploaded. So a thread from 2008 discussing the latest freeware might not be so relevant. Unfortunately, good freeware for FSX seems to be pretty rare these days. Maybe it's because we expect so much of an FSX aircraft - detailed VC, super accurate flight dynamics, bump maps, specular maps, custom sounds, 20 paint schemes.. A crude exterior model and a simple 2D panel are no longer enough. Most people understandably would not spend so much time developing something, only to release it for free. It seems "low cost payware" has taken the place of freeware. Some of the freeware I have and use from time to time are the C177RG by Brett Henderson, the Seabird Seeker by Darrel Woodhouse, and the (former payware) Commercial Level Simulations Piper Arrow. Also, don't forget the flight dynamics mods for the stock aircraft, done by Alexander Metzger. They really improve the feel of the default aircraft, making them very enjoyable to fly. -

August 15, 201114 yr Look here on AVSIM and other sites like FlightSim.com - they do freeware reviews that will give you some ideas of aircraft to check out. You can use the Search function of this board - just type "Good freeware" or "best freeware" and you'll get plenty of results. As I'm trying out freeware aircraft I find interesting and download, I'm doing mini reviews on them. Here's my first batch that will give you an idea of some planes and helis you might be interested in trying Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports
