( it will loas your ZFW and GW for you)You can do the same thing in the Takeoff page with CG.Just press the CG Lsk twice. ( it will load your CG and trim for you) Don't forget to set your trim before you take off. That's it !! It could not be any easier. (( cost index between 20 - 40 )) Enjoy..........................Fred. Frederic Steiner.

There is no "normal" cost index. Very simplified:Cost index is high when fuel is relatively cheaper than crew salary.... so you fly fast to send the crew home asap.Cost index is low when fuel is relatively more expensive than the crew... so you fly slow to save fuel. CI is an adimensional figure (can also be modified by the operator).Cost index = Operative Cost ($/hr) / Fuel cost (cents/lb) CI will be set for each flight and it is normally given to the operating crew along with all the flight documentation. On the 737, cost index goes up to 500. August 26, 201114 yr my question to is what is my zfw? i dont know what figures to type in. and what fuel should i put in the fmc?I have answered this already !! Check a few posts up from here. You don't need to type in anything. The CDU does it for you when you press the ZFW key twice. When you decide how much fuel you want from the FS Actions part of the CDU, it will automatically give you the Zero Fuel Weight. The tutorial flight makes this very clear. Frederic Steiner.
August 26, 201114 yr Author thank you very much.. where can i get a tutioral flight from? just to learn more about this plane. Mohit Mahtani
August 26, 201114 yr I suppose you know what ZFW is but if you go to the payload screen of the FMCand play around with the FULL / 2/3 / 1/3 / EMPTY LSK keys, then you get the answers. If you don't know what ZFW is, maybe google it or wikipedia....as they have good definitions there ____________________________________________________ Dieter de Wit

August 26, 201114 yr Mohit, are you by any chance based in India? Just asking because if you have this aircraft, you would have, with a bit of fingerwork, have discovered all the answers you have sought here without even having had to bother to make a posting, and thus saved yourself the time of logging-in searching for your post and its replies. Luckily for you, Frederic, as a retired RW pilot, and others too, have a lot of patience and time to answer your questions. Everything you seek, specially the basic questions, are in those manuals provided FOC. Surely, you'd rather be flying than spending time searching Forums? Rick Almeida
August 26, 201114 yr if everyone did the 1st tutorial a lot of their questions would be answered - this is why the did it to introduce the basics for setup & control etc. You learn so much from them. Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!

The turorial covers a lot of interesting stuff but it is a bit tricky I would imagine for beginnersor people with very little knowledge of the AFDS on a 737 NG. It's a good idea to save the route after you have set it up.At least then, the next time you fly the tutorial it will save lots of time. I think the tutorial flight is very well put together and takes you step by step throughthe correct way to setup a flight and manage the FMC and AFDS. Frederic Steiner.
