August 28, 201114 yr Mmm, what's really interesting here is how so many different opinions with this comparison. It just goes to show that there is so much variation between different rigs and operating systems, it is sometimes difficult to gain any objective results. Subtly, every rig is different. quote from Qantas cabin crew, "subtly, every aircraft is different" Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
March 14, 201511 yr So why the PMDG over ifly? I have used ifly, and I get so much more for the money I pay. In fact, I feel as though the ifly 737 (and 747 at that) feel much more immersive in sound and environment. Aleksandar Djordjevic

Watch it now  , you have no idea the delicate line you have to walk not to raise an offense from the dedicated PMDG following around here. On that note the iFly model does have allot to offer I must admit, it's the main airliner I fly these days... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
March 14, 201511 yr Moderator I'm not going to dispute your opinion as everyone has one and is certainly entitled to one, but give a few thought to ponder in regards to your opinion to offer another opinion. Wholeheartedly agree and after listening to dozens of real 737 take-offs from various sources, iFly have nailed the sound more so then the Pmdg. Part of the problem with simmers is they want things to sound like things they've heard from youtube, videos, plane spotting or sitting in the cabin of an airliner. The truth is most simmers have never flown or sat in the flight deck to know what a 737 sounds like first hand and then try to say that something doesn't sound right. Since PMDG actually recorded sounds from the flight deck during various stages of operation, I find it difficult for someone to say they don't sound right or didn't nail it, especially if they said person might not have ever flown one personally. Have you flown one personally or sat in the jump seat during a flight to be able to quantity your opinion? Did iFly also personally record sounds in the same manner that PMDG did? I don't know the answer to that, hence the reason I ask. The cockpit is correct, colour included. Along the same lines as the response to the sounds, they personally photographed their subject plane for this, and took umpteen hundreds of photos (Ryan actually stated the amount that I don't recall), so I don't see how the colors can't be right. We all know that the appearance of colors can vary from sources compared on the Internet or video, as well as ones monitors calibration. I think by now we all know the issue and reason behind the geometry "issue" with the NGX due to the way the HIS is modeled and that it's a consideration for SP2. Had iFly modeled the same style of collumated HGS, they likely would have had the same issue. Plus it's ability to fly every kind of approach including RNP RF legs make it the premier 737-add on. One feature that the NGX doesn't have makes it the premier 737? How about the other functions and especially nuances that the PMDG does model that the iFly doesn't offer, they don't out weight the RNP RF legs feature? The value for money with all models included makes it a hands down winner for mine. Nothing to ponder on that one, you do get all the models included. Anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to bust your b_lls or be confrontational, just to offer some other view points or opinions on the subject. The one thing I do consider is that the relationship PMDG has with Boeing, licensing, and the fact that they are able to get all the source info as well as the plane for photography and sounds recording, gives me the confidence that they've made the plane about as accurate as possible considering the limitations of FSX or P3D, minus the RF legs function which I don't remember why they didn't include. Anyway, that's just another .02 cents to throw into the pot for people to ponder, contemplate, discuss, argue or whatever they want to do with it. Happy flying no matter which plane or sim you use. As long as we're all happy with what we got, that's the most important thing. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

March 14, 201511 yr Performance wise on my sysem the PMDG out performs the IFly. In general, frame rates are similar, but the IFly 737 appears to be more susceptible to the active mouse window bug. If you look closely at frame rates (With any aircraft), you will notice a drop in frames, anytime the mouse cursor is active on the screen. Usually it's about a 2 to 3 frame drop. For some reason, this drop is much more significant with the IFly 737 I drop almost half down to single digits. at times. If you have a strong system, this loss may not be as noticeable, but I only have a 3Ghz C2D system, so a drop that large is very noticeable.
