Digital Aviation's Cheyenne vs. RealAir's Turbine Beech Duke

Featured Replies

Alright, I've got Windoze 7 installed on my trusty iMac and its purring along fine, (KNOCK ON WOOD...) unsure.png I purchased the DA Piper Cheyenne last night and flew it about some last PM and this AM. I love the Cheyenne itself IRL the plane is a fav of mine. But that RA Turbine Duke looks amazing! And from what I can glean its a very true to life replication of the plane, down to the nitty gritty of the performance capabilities of this little fire-breathing monster. So, which one does the masses prefer? How is the Duke vs. the Cheyenne regarding SIM performance, is see easier on most systems than the Cheyenne or harder? I can run the Cheyenne fine except in heavy WX, mostly clouds, but we all know they are a resource hog... So... what say ya'll about the Turbine Duke?

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

The RA T-Duke is truly awesome! Ideal for small-field STOL operations! Cheers, - jahman.

I have them both and love them for their own specific character. You'll see that the Cheyenne is (IRL) older technology. Where the Duke is a modern retrofitted aircraft. In the sim I think the Cheyenne is a better performer fps wise. I think the both are interesting aircraft in the sense that you have to be careful about engine management, speed control at lower altitudes and while decending. I think the Duke needs even more attention in that sense compared to the Cheyenne. The Cheyenne is think a more complete aircraft out of the box with it's oldy woldy trimble gps (with updatable nav cycles) and tcas. But the Duke can be retrofitted with the RXP gauges. I have the professional package which adds even more functionality (tcas) next to crosfill). In short I love them both, fly them a lot and I'm glad I have them!

The RealAir Duke is quite heavy on the framerate. Not as much as you would expect, given the incredibly detailed interior, but combined with detailed scenery, there's a noticeable difference compared to default aircraft or something from e.g. Carenado. The iMac, being an "all in one" system, is little more than a notebook computer in a different form factor. Only the high-end models provide the essential 4x CPU cores and decent graphics. Still, if you're happy with the FPS performance of the Cheyenne, I suppose you'll be able to run the RA Duke as well.

Been using the Cheyenne (FS9 and FSX) and was very satified with it. Recently got the turbine Duke and it's an awsome plane. Similar performance on my rig. Duke has bump map so maybe some impact if GFX HW is not super great. Echo above, both great, FSX is better because of them.
