Every single one of us on the dev team runs Windows 7 and we can't replicate these random freeze/CTD things.
I ran Vista x64 with little problems, hardly any at all regarding FSX. Win7 has been a NIGHTMARE for me. Way more permissions problems, networking issues, CTD's, OOM's etc etc than any other OS. Still it's "the best." lol

If you are a RW ATCer (maybe I just assumed that from your 'interests) I would have thought you would be smart enough to know that heavily OC CPUs are inherently unstable especially when loaded. The faster the CPU is running, the hotter it gets....and the hotter it gets the more unstable etc. FSX is a CPU hog and you can expect it to generate max heat...so very easy to see how you would get a crash. Overclocking is fine to 5% or 10 % in most cases but most people (and resellers) push it to the limits and just because it works with most applications is no reason to assume it will be fine with FSX. Been there....done that. Andrew Vincent
Nonsense. Read Tom's Hardware guide on the i7 series of chips. Stable overclocking well beyond 10% is the norm, not the exception. Colin Ware

Your experience is FAR from normal - most experts (and I agree with them) say it's the best OS Microsoft has ever made. Something's gotta be off with your config somehow.

Have you tried doing a flight with your CPU at stock speed? It could be a bad overclock
That would moe likely result in an BSOD, not a CTD. Bert Van Bulck

Is your GPU overclocked? Are you using the ENB series bloom effects? If so, try undoing one at a time to assess their impact on the CTD.

+1 Totally agree. There is nouthing "wrong" with windows 7. FSX is total crap, always has bee always will be!!!!!!!! Burned out on the NGX. Been flying FS9 with the ifly 737. Just amazingly stable and enjoyable!
Just because FS9 works better, it doesn't make it better. I don't know how the FS9 behaved when it first came out, but i've heard people saying that it was nearly unplayable with current computers. So it was with FSX. But current computers run FSX with no problems. And as a simulation platform, FS9 is way behind FSX. Why do you think PMDG and o whole cartload of other developers moved on from it? Because they felt constricted by it. The problem with FSX is that it's being outdated. Addon technology is progressing much faster than it was in the days of FS9. Right now, the world need a new Flight Simulator.

I agree about FSX being total crap. The code is a total mess. Its an embarrasment. Hopefully very few of the same people that made FSX is working on Flight.

It wasn't their fault. They're the same guys that worked on FS9 as far as I know. Microsoft wanted them to wrap it up sooner, so they can be fired faster.
