What's your favorite: Munich or Frankfurt

Featured Replies

Hey guys, Today I did a very nice flight from Oslo to Leipzig. I had bought the GAP2 package at Aerosoft's recent sale, and especially Leipzig and Köln were of interest to me because of them seemingly being cargo hubs for DHL and UPS, respectively. I was quite awe struck by leipzig today, though (Didn't visit Köln yet). All the cars on the highway, the 3D taxiway bridges, the moving trains. Loved it! In comparison, Frankfurt seems really old, with much of those nice tidbits not being present. I have Munich, but I have not installed it since Frankfurt is the absolute center of aviation in Germany. However, Leipzig had me start doubting whether not to install it again. It's a newer scenery which really does look very nice from what I remember, and as such it is more detailed, with more of those nice tidbits that leipzig also has. Problem is, both havetheir pros and cons:- Frankfurt has opertations to mroe places, with a larger selection of airlines, for sure in the cargo department. However, it's also an ageing scenery.- Munich is a newer scenery, and it looks very good. However, it's less busy and has less airlines (especially cargo) than Frankfurt. I do not want to start installing sceneries I'll probably never use. That's a waste of space and I hate polluting FSX with stuff I don't use. Which is why I turn to you guys: what's your favorite airport, and why? Would you recommend reinstalling Munich, even though I already have Frankfurt installed? (And Leipzig, Köln, Berlin Tegel, Hamburg and some other GAP2 sceneries) I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

HI benjamin missed out on the great deal sad.png was going to get german airports 3, the only german airport I have is Munich years ago I had wanted to buy Frankfurt but to be honest as strange as it might sound I did not like it at all from the photos I just don't like the Architecture of the airport the way it was deisigned, then Munich came out and really liked. the other airport would have to be Hamburg which I still have to buy sad.png but really like how it looks could imagine the German airports team remaking Frankfurt again but I wonder if they do it again?

Munich is newer and has many more features due to it being the younger of the two. But Frankfurt is also well done. I say get both! BTW my favorite destination in Europe is Fly Tampa's LOWW.

Well that makes it hard. Is there anything "better" about Munich? I mean, in terms of flights/aircraft/airlines, not in terms of which is the better FS scenery (it is obvious that Munich is better in that respect). Because it seems to me that overall, Frankfurt is the busiest place, and what gets to Frankfurt, also gets to Munich, making Munich perhaps a bit unnecessary. See, I'm not really into flying in and out of Germany... So having two big hubs isn't really necessary to me if there is no clear advantage to having Munich.

I have both, I've broken down my ops this way.Frankfurt I use for my large Airliner long haul flights, 747, 757, etc.Munich I use for the shorter regional flights CRJ,737 - Stuttgart, Salzburg, Zurich, Innsbruck, Vienna etc. This way there's not an much of an overlap in my ops and I have good reasons to use both sceneries.Find a way man :) Its a waste to have such a nice scenery sitting on the shelf.Regards.Ernie.

Well that's actually some really good advice. I think I'll follow up on that. Also, I just saw that FedEx flies to Tel Aviv from Munich... It'd be nice to fly there with a MD-11! Thanks for the replies. I'll reinstall Munich then.
