I just wanted to let you folks know of a GREAT BOOK I just finished titled 'North Star Over My Shoulder' by Bob Buck. It is the biography of a TWA pilot who grew up with the airline industry, flying DC-2 and DC-3 aircraft in 1930 until he retired as a 747 captain. Extremely well written with some great pilot stories of how it really was!! Money and time well spent.Check Six !!!!!Rick

Thanks for the great tip. I got it from my local library. Couldn't put it down last night. I started to search for other great aviation books. I found out that 'Fate is the Hunter' by Ernest Kellog Gann is supposed to be really good, I will try to find that one next. I would love other recomendations, I would like to read more about flying modern jets etc. but any good aviation stories would be great.

Check out Flying the Big Jets. It's by a retired British Airways pilot and gives a good general aviation background and then describes in detail a London to Boston flight aboard a Boeing 777. (An earlier edition was set aboard a 747)If you liked North Star, you'll love Fate is the Hunter. The two men, Buck and Gann, had very similar experiences flying as civilian pilots in Air Transport Command.
