September 6, 201114 yr On my previous install of FSX I used mainly the Bojote tweak. It worked OK and I got better FPS with it. Then somewhere along the way my FSX started to show weird graphics errors so I decided to uninstall-install everything back. Only this time around I went with Nick's guide. It's not "Nick's Guide" vs "Bojote's Guide", Guys... Nick Needham has worked for many years with all of the openly provided Nvidia and ATI graphics parameters, plus he recommends specific BIOS settings, and then goes on to work with the various OS changes that one can make. Given enough time and a Bsc in Computer Science, you too can dig up these settings on your own: many make very good common sense, like stopping un-needed services. His Nhancer guide, and now the Inspector Guide are virtual Bibles, and - if you want to fly without stutters, hesitations, a high frame rate - then one follows it word for word. Nick is an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable and avid computer guru, who will help anyone at the drop of a hat, and there may not be too many others who are his equal in his speciality. ******* Altuve aka Bojote approaches from a different level of expertise; i.e. that of the programming of the FSX application and how it interfaces with the OS itself, and making very good use of the SDK in doing so. He has done a wealth of research into the many areas of our sim that are not documented, such as the lack of support for Shaders v3.0; how Vista and Windows 7 manage graphics memory and how it relates to the modern (post 8800 series) gpus - i.e BufferPool management. Over the last two years he has carried out test after test - some done right here with us Avsim flyers as his "assistants". His work has also not been confined to improving FSX; I came across some of his posts while setting up Squawkbox so that I could fly online (as part of the new Orbx PNW Flying Club). ******* has been engaged in the pursuit of improving the aircraft textures of other flyers' aircraft while flying online with Vatsim. Surprise! To be short - both of these gentlemen have made their very individual marks in our world, and both deserve equal recognition for the parts they have played, and are still, playing.. 2 cents, i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
