The 'Slipery' 800WL?

Featured Replies

Hi Phil, I had exactly the same issue with the plane on my first few flights. It's not you, don't worry. This plane has probably had more detailed modelling than any other FSX aircraft. If you have a big load then it will take a lot longer to slow up than if you hadn't. Also if you are landing at higher altitude where the air is thinner, this will also have an effect. The 737 800 is known for it's 'slipperiness.' You simply have to get used to flying this bird. Like the other guys have said, take your time and set her up gently, nice and early wink.png

Thanks for all the feedback guys. My actual question was, is the WL version of the 800, harder to slow than the NON WL version? I seem to have more trouble getting low and slow in the WL

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

My actual question was, is the WL version of the 800, harder to slow than the NON WL version?
It should be, since one of the purposes of winglets is to reduce lift-induced drag, making the winglet version more "slippery"

I just did my first flight's with the non wl version and indeed this one seems to come down 'faster'. But too be simple, this is what we might expact with the winglets removing some parts of the fortexes and probaly make the aircraft more slippery with it. Maikel Rozemeijer.

I simply change my descent speed in the FMC prior to TOD. I usually put something like 280/.735. It works nicely
