Stubborn ATC

As has been said many times, the default FSX ATC is not very good, but this was an all-time low for them. I was flying a GA airplane (Cessna C340) and must have started to have engine problems or something (I never found out what it was, but I was losing thrust), and I could no longer climb, as my speed had plummeted to around 80 knots. I requested a lower altitude, which ATC denied (never had that happen before), and if I stopped climbing, ATC of course told me to expedite my climb. Growing tired of their nagging (and because it's just a simulator), I tried to climb the final thousand feet. Naturally, I stalled and plummeted a few thousand feet before regaining control. Is this a one-time bug, or is there something I can/should do about ATC? Thanks,boeing247

What you probabñy needed was Carb Heat on to prevent icing rather than better ATC! :( Cheers, - jahman.

If you were in a climb with full power, you shouldn't have to use carb heat. Pitot tube icing might have caused the AI to show wrong airspeed, or maybe aircraft icing was the problem.. Either way, ATC isn't very flexible in FSX. They always assume that everything is working perfectly. You can't just reply "Unable" or declare an emergency.. they'll just cancel your flight plan In Flight Unlimited II/III you could actually declare an emergency if you lost your engine, and they would give you vectors to the nearest airport and alert all other traffic to give way, which was pretty cool.

Apologies, you did say you were in a climb. In that case you should lean your mixture as you climb or you will lose power. Cheers, - jahman.

Not to sound like an irritant or anything but, frankly, it simply sounds like bad piloting on your part. It's not the controllers fault.

It was bad piloting on my part, but it seems odd that ATC was still barking at me.
