NGX Not Counting Down & FMC Shows SELCAL Panel

Featured Replies

Hi, All has been well, albeit with a steep learning curve. Thank you PMDG for such an incredible and immersive aircraft simulation. However, today, I fired up FSX with the PMDG NGX 800 WL, but the aircraft did not perform it's normal countdown from 15, and the aircarft started in a state resembling the last flight which I had to adandon suddenly mid-flight by closing FSX, with some auotpilot functions (i.e. autothrottle) enabled, but it wasn't really fully fired up with engines etc. The FMC appears blank, and when I click on it in order to reset the panel state, a new window opens, but instead of being the FMC with digits, it appears as the SELCAL panel. If the mouse is moved over this bitmap, the cursor changes when over clickable hotspots as if the FMC was present (i.e. with the keypad in the lower half, with the non-clickable screen above it - see attached JPG). All other PMDG 737 NGX variants fail to start in the same way. Can I manually reset the aircraft / panel state? i'd rather not reinstall if that's possible, too much can go wrong! Drop your detail sliders a bit. I had the same issue and doing that sorted it out. Al

also open a support ticket. "reinstall" might solve the problem for the time being but maybe others will have that problem as well and sooner or later, they have to check whats the problem.

I'd officially "end" the flight in FSX, then quit FSX and restart, run fresh flight. I think the sudden shutdown you mentioned may have corrupted a few things. I've run into the same sort of thing in the past (not with NGX) and a "quit flight" and restart normally resolves the problem. Re-install as a last resort...sometimes we're too quick to jump on that bandwagon (throwing baby out with bathwater)...

Hi Mickey, good idea, I have now submitted a ticket. Hi Alan, my sliders are quite low at the moment, but I lowered them still; this hasn't repaired the FMC or restarted the countdown. Hi Di, signature updated with full name. I have rebooted and restarted FSX and Windows, but now I'll try a full system reset too. Thanks all, I'll try what I can, and what is suggested, but a reinstall is the last thing that I want to do, for now at least...Fabio

Hi,I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but the aircraft remains in the same state as above (no countdown on start-up, and the FMC appears dead without digits and brings up the SelCal bitmap).PMDG has a directory under FSX which might contain some additional configuration information that wasn't removed during the uninstall; I also removed all additional liveries. For the record, I have the PMDG Jetstream as well.Any thoughts? Thanks,Fabio

Yup, I have the Jetstream too and in spite of the original premise that they'd be similar on performance I think that's no longer claimed to be the case and certainly doesn't seem to be in my experience. One other thing I did that also seemed to help after dropping the sliders was to trash my FSX config file and then let FSX rebuild it, of course I had to turn off menu music and all that which I forgot it would turn back on, but apart from that it really did seem to help a lot to ditch my config file as I think it kind of kicked FSX up the &@($* a bit and got it cleaned up, I know it certainly fires up quicker now than it used to and the NGX seems pretty trouble-free now. Hi,Just a quick note to say that Ryan at PMDG corrected this issue yesterday evening by connecting to my FSX PC and running some intricate checks and repair routines.I thought I would relay this so that I could publicly acknowledge their hard work and commitment. Ryan did an outstanding job, and it was done expeditiously. What an exemplary product and customer service from PMDG!Thanks,Fabio
