September 9, 201114 yr Just thought I'd start a thread for those that may be unemployed at this time. After hearing the President's speech on jobs it made me wonder are there any here in the community that we could possibly help. It's all in who you know they say and those with the right skills could get directed in some way to the right resources. If I hear of anyone I would most certainly see what I could do. Working remotely for example especially for developers knows no country boundaries. September 9, 201114 yr Brian, would you categorize this as advertising? Dillon, that's a nice gesture. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 10, 201114 yr Shame you are over the other side of the pond, there's some freelance work going up in Manchester UK that I turned down the other day for a decent Quark designer, not much, but it might be a usable contact for someone, PM me if anyone wants the details. September 10, 201114 yr mmm you might want to check with the powers to be on this board.. I mean are we allowed to advertise? I don't think so... without the proper channels. This isn't advertising. This is a community forum and when someone asks a question about what we can do to help each other out through a difficult time, you will find that others will step up and offer good ideas to help someone out....Moving on then. I've helped out a friend on another forum with getting his start as a developer. Sent him a copy of GMAX and gave him a few pointers to get started. He is now working his way in developing for FSX. Also if anyone knows Tim who started TA Software and PlanG Flight Sim Planning software. If I recall he started all that up when he was unemployed a few years ago. I believe he is back employed again. These are great projects to do during downtime. My view is no better time to learn new tools if you are unemployed as it is amazing the new things you can learn and accomplish. It is good to have these types of projects and set goals for yourself. Add them to your resume as well as it shows project management and self motivation. I think a lot of good things can come from initiatives like this. I am in the bottom of the world and employed so not much I can do. I would suggest take the time to learn GMAX or 3D Studio if you want to download the 60 day trial. This is always a good start.
