the fact fsx is a 5 year old software with ancient technology.just cancel "aircraft cast shadows on itself" in fsx options. and if it intrests u, what causes this is a low resolution shadow map which is used to cast the shadow.

Cancelling shadows will certainly hide that, and will improve your performance a little. But I wonder if that's FSX, or the aircraft model itself? I don't recall seeing that on the Level-D, Maddog, or PMDG 747-400.Dave

Limitation of some other things we used to do the model - the NGX doesn't support self shadowing, sorry. It's not realistically done in the FSX engine anyway.

- turn off your FPS counter and you will also see a slight performance increase. somewhat ironic
