That's an amazing price! Less than a bob per gig! Hard-Disk Manager 2011 Suite from Paragon Software will migrate your OS (any) from a HDD to your SSD for US$ 50. That's expensive, but it will also do just about anything you might ever need deone in terms of low-level maintenance and backups/restores for your HDDs/SSDs. Inlcudes a LIN UX recovery boot DVD image so you can fix your HDDs/SSDs when Windows itself won't boot. Drive Copy 2011 Professional (also from Paragon) will also migrate your OS to an SSD for US$40. It's a similar tool for HDD /SSD maintenance as HDM 2011 but lacks most of the backup/restore funcionality. Compare HDM2011 and DC2011 so you can decide which suits your needs best.. Phil, the problem with cloning a HHD into an SSD is that you it can screw up the partition alignmentIt can be done with Win 7's built in System Imaging tool itself actually.Do you currently use a third party Imaging / cloning tool for your backups?

Yes, I use the old DOS version of Ghost 15. Just didn't want to jump in without some info....

First thing you should do is to make sure your SATA controller is set to AHCI in BIOS. If you installed Windows with it set to IDE, you may need to do this to enable AHCI:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61869-ahci-enable-windows-7-vista.html I found this: http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/Norton-Ghost-15-amp-SSDs/td-p/196325You should be ok cloning to the SSD so long as you previously create and format the partition in Win 7. Does Ghost 15 back up the OS partition and the MBR separately?

SRT. It puts everything that you most commonly use onto the SSD. So all your boot files, windows and you internet will go to the SSD. IMO, it sounds easier than what has been said above.

But why have a 60GB SSD in SRT for the OS when you can have the entire partition in the SSD?

Phil, what do you have installed in your Windows 7 drive? what's it's size? (I mean the size of the partition and how much is in use)
