September 16, 201114 yr Yup, sadly they do. In fact, I'm surprised that we weren't accused of being Marxists for suggesting Russian aeroplanes are quite interesting, given that even mentioning an Airbus is enough to get some idiots clasping their hand to their chest and singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. They'd probably have a coronary if they realised that Boeing actually once marketed their 747 as the 'super airbus' and flew a tour with those very words painted on the side of it: http://www.airplaner...100_Demo_GJ.jpg Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
September 16, 201114 yr Wow do all threads here suggesting non Boeing/American aircraft always turn into this? Reminds me of why I left Airliners.net forums...too much A vs B idiotic flag waving. Its just a game folks. The world won't end because they are working on a Dash-8 (sarcastic mode on)...oh my it is Canadian...It's manufacturer is headquartered in Quebec...they speak French there...and it isn't a Boeing...run for the hills! I think it's just more of a nationalist attitude. Europeans love Airbus and Americans love Boeing. Just my opinion but I think people need to tone it down a bit and take a neutral approach to the subject. Now can we get this thread back on track? Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
September 16, 201114 yr I think it's just more of a nationalist attitude. Europeans love Airbus and Americans love Boeing. Just my opinion but I think people need to tone it down a bit and take a neutral approach to the subject. Now can we get this thread back on track? For me it's a matter of hating the FBW of the Airbus. That will become, however, a moot point as more advanced aircraft are produced from other manufacturers. Also a matter of aesthetics... I don't care if it's French, American, Brazilian, Canadian, etc (though I've yet to find a "pretty" Russian a/c)... Anyway, this has become somewhat of a juvenile debate and I really loathe the Airbus vs Boeing topics. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 16, 201114 yr I think it's just more of a nationalist attitude. Europeans love Airbus and Americans love Boeing. Hey I'm a European, in fact I'm a European who has done work on the A320, A321 and A330 (and the 767 too, to be completely honest), but I still prefer Boeings. However, in preferring Boeings, I still have no time for all that 'scarebus' and 'if it ain't McDonnel Douglas, oops, I mean the MD-11 and the Boeing 717...' partisan nonsense which people trot out. It's true I'm not a fan of the lack of hands on feel Airbus promote in their control layouts, nor the sidestick controller, but that's because I like stick and rudder flying and not because it is dangerous. September 16, 201114 yr Author Whats the old saying...form follows function. I think Eastern designers usually had aesthetics as a pretty low priority. Function and capability are a bit more important. Because of the diverese landcapes and extreme climates, ruggedness is often a common trait in Russian/Ukranian design. When 'ruggedness' is applied to the requirement of any aircraft design...it will look as such. Bush planes generally won't win beauty contests but they are sure rugged. You can land a Beaver in places you wouldn't dare touch with a Lancair. As far as looks go, I always thought the An-225 looked great, considering it is the largest aircaft in the world and it has a MGTOW of over 1 million lbs. It looks very 'muscular' if such a term could be applied to an airplane. It looks like it can do what it was made for. Some might ask how often would simmers need to virtually haul locomotives, massive generators, whales...you name it to destinations around the world...Probably about as often as they feel the need to haul virtual tourists to Hawaii and to their connecing flights at DFW PMDG probably would never consider a 124 or 225, and thats fine...the writers saying 'Write what you know'...PMDG knows Boeings...so thats what they will make and good for them. September 16, 201114 yr So, when do you think we'll get a model 247? They've got to run out of jets at some point LOL Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
September 16, 201114 yr Author hahaha yeah. I do believe Golden Age Simulations has a 247 in the works. By the time PMDG runs out of Boeing jets(and all possible sub variations) FS15 will be out, and then we will have 3D virtual flight attendants to serve 3D virtual peanuts to the 3D virtual pax....you know the important stuff of flying an airliner And then the fans will complain that the FA's dress doesn't look like that in real life... September 16, 201114 yr Author Probably will have A vs B arguments then about the FA uniform fashion designer's nationalities "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
September 16, 201114 yr Hm.. That would still make me seven years old.. Way to go.YOU sir!Have made my night haha!
September 17, 201114 yr So, when do you think we'll get a model 247? They've got to run out of jets at some point LOL Al if thats a Boeing 247 I'm in! Maybe along with an Accusim license... Inactive
