Ai sound

Recommended Posts

Hi I installed fshotsfx 1.1 and try to extract all the ai sound files that I downloaded from the web into the aiblast folder and added the entries in the aircraft config file of the ai aircraft(fruit stand). I also started up fshotsfx and went to the part where I clicked on the 'refresh ai' button. After restarting the game I still could not hear the newly installed ai sound, still only the default ai sound. What could the problem be? Regards

Did you buy and register the product? If not, as I remember it only works near one airport, Chicago Meigs (within 90 nm, as I understand). Hope this helps,

Do you own the product Tom? I'd be interested in your evaluation of it if you do. It's one of those "mmm maybe --- maybe not" things for me. If it's really good, it could add quite a bit to the "immersion" factor as with AES I tend to spend more time these days "walking around the airplane" than I used to in FS. (Not in the real world - a pre-flight inspection is not something you want to rush through!)

Yes, I own it. I rarely use it these days, but it really does add a lot, and the custom sounds is a nice feature. Basically while they are taxiing on the ground you get the stock MS AI sound, but then when they take off you get an engine spool up sound, and then a loud takeoff sound. When landing you get an engine sound as they approach, then a reverse sound as they slow down. All of these have a Doppler effect as they pass by. There is also a tire chirp upon landing, but that is so mis-timed that I eliminated it and have my AI set up to play a touchdown chirp as an effect. The problem I'm having with it on my latest computers is that all the sounds can be mis-timed at very large airports (LAX, Chicago, JFK, etc - just the places I would like to use it the most. Hope this helps,

That helps a lot - thanks Tom. smile.png It sounds like it comes close to something I'd love to have but with the mis-timing issue it doesn't quite succeed. I'll keep my credit card in my pocket and hope for an upgrade...Cheers mateIan

Hello Tom Would it be possible to give me heads up as to which effect you're using to get the 'chirp' ? Many thanks and kind regards Gary

Sure, I use the effect (and wav file) found in my Classic AI Sound Effects zip file, part of my AI Classic Traffic package. On my AI Aircraft page. They also do reverse sounds upon landing, if desired. Hope this helps,

Many thanks for the information, Tom. Although I'm not into Classic Airliners, you've certainly got some superb AI on your web-site !!! All that I've got to do now is edit a whole lot of config files to include the touchdown effect - I feel some sort of batch file coming on... Many thanks once again Gary

Thanks a million Tom for this information. I had no idea you had such an extensive AI offering. Wonderful stuff!!! You have just allowed me to remove an item from my "to do" list - compile a retro AI tfc file for the late sixties for use at VHHX and some Vietnam war sceneries I've tinkered with... All I have to do is tweak things a bit and it's all ready to go! im%20Not%20Worthy.gif

You are certainly welcome, glad to help. That AI package does not seem to be very well known, unfortunately...

Hopefully this thread will inform a few more people that it's there. It obviously involved an enormous amount of work - I was amazed at how comprehensive it is.

Yep. It covers 3 different years - 1957, 1959, and 1962. There are over 1200 different liveries included, with dozens of aircraft types. They range from the Twin Pioneer to the Convair 990. There are over 200 DC-3's alone. It has complete worldwide flight coverage, most based on real timetables using the MRAI Compiler - here are the airlines included in the 1962 traffic (NEW! means it will be added or updated in the upcoming package update) : 1962 Traffic Based on real schedules: Aden 1962Aer Lingus 1962Aerocondor 1963Aeroflot 1961Aerolineas Argentinas 1963 NEW!Aerolineas Vega 1963Aeronaves de Mexico 1962eAerotransportes Litoral 1961Aerovias Panama 1961Aerovias Peruanas (APSA) 1961Aigle Azur 1954Air Algerie 1961Air Ceylon 1961Air Congo (Belgium) 1962Air Congo (France) 1961Air France 1962Air Guinee 1963Air India 1961Air Inter 1961eAir Laos 1961eAir Liban 1962 NEW!Air Madagascar 1961Air Mali 1963Air Vietnam 1962 NEW!Airlines of NSW 1961Alaska 1961eAlitalia 1961Allegheny 1962All Nippon 1962Aloha 1961American 1962Ansett ANA 1961AREA 1961Ariana Afghan 1962Arkia 1963ASA 1961Austral 1962Austrian 1962Avalon 1963Avensa 1958/59Aviaco 1961Avianca 1963Aviateca Guatemala 1961eBahamas 1961/62BEA 1961BKS 1961e NEW!BOAC 1962Bonanza 1963Borneo 1963Braathens SAFE 1963Braniff 1961British Guiana 1963British United 1961BWIA 1961CAAC 1961Cambrian 1961Canadian Pacific 1962Caribair 1961Cathay Pacific 1961Central 1964Central African 1961Channel 1961e NEW!Channel Air Bridge 1962Civil Air Transport 1961Cohata 1963Continental 1963COPA 1957Cordova 1963Cruzeiro do Sul 1961CSA Czechoslovakia 1961Cubana 1961eCunard Eagle 1962Cyprus (operated by BOAC)Dan-Air 1961 NEW!De Kroonduif 1963Delta 1963DETA Mozambique 1961eDerby 1961Dominicana 1963DTA Angola 1961eEast African 1961Eastern 1963Eastern Provincial 1968eEast-West 1961Ecuatoriana 1961El Al 1962Ethiopian 1961Falck 1963Faucett 1961Fiji 1963Finnair 1962Flying Tiger 1963Fred Olsen 1963Frontier 1962 NEW!Garuda 1961eGhana 1962Great Lakes 1961Guest Aerovias 1961Gulf Aviation 1963Hawaiian 1963Iberia 1963Iceland Airlines 1963Indian Airlines 1961e NEW!Ini 1961Interflug/Lufthansa 1963Iran Air 1962Iraq 1962Itavia 1962 NEW!Japan 1962JAT Yugoslavia 1961Jersey 1962e NEW!Jordan Airways 1962Kar Air 1963KLM 1962 NEW!Korean National 1963Kuwait 1963 NEW!LACSA 1963Lake Central 1962 NEW!LAN Chile 1961LANICA 1961LAUMSA 1961LAV 1961Lebanese Intl 1960LIAT 1963Liberia National 1961Libiavia 1961Linjeflyg 1963Lloyd Aero Boliviano 1957Loftleider 1962Loide Aereo 1961LOT Poland 1961Lufthansa 1962Luxair 1967eMackey 1961eMalayan 1961Malev 1961Mandated 1961Maritime Central 1961Mercury 1963 NEW!Mexicana 1963MIAT Mongolian 1963Middle East 1962Misrair (UAA) 1961Mohawk 1958eMorton 1961Mt. OMG Tom - you included SPANZ! I got hired by them and had just completed a DC3 rating and made a couple of trips when they ran out of cash and closed down. Hoooo boy - I'm gonna have some sparkly stuff in my eyes when I see that particular AI bird parking on the ramp! BTW, I then went on to fly with the airline that had squeezed them out of the business. (That's their uniform I'm wearing in my picture) Not proud of that but I needed a pay check and I needed to fly. (addicted then, addicted now!)Don't want to bore you but my last flight in a DC3 was from Wellington to Christchurch where they were to be parked waiting for the new owners to come and ferry them to Cambodia. The captain was retiring with the aircraft so this was his last flight EVER. We shut down and listened to the "plinking" sound that those big old radials make as the engine cools and neither of us said a word. We just stared blankly at the windshield and finally heaved a deep sight and left the airplane in a heavy silence.Well, about a year ago I replicated that flight in the MAAM DC3. Similar weather and ended up parked in the same spot. And darn it, I felt that same catch in the throat and my eyes got damp.... FS9 is way more than a game sometimes my friend

That's why I do this - to recreate an era that has been lost. Glad I could bring back some memories. We've included just about every airline in the world in some way. :) Take care,
