When is hyd quantity a concern?

I am aware of the problem people are having with low hyd levels in the sim but made me think about the following question: At what point does hydraulic quantity would be a concern in RL and require servicing?Thanks,Sam

Every time you see A RFL (refill) message, servicing of the applicable hydraulic system is required. It's not allot to dispatch the airplane with a refill message.

When it was sitting at around 36% on SYS A, it would dip into the single digit %'s when using the landing gear if I recall correctly from this past weekend. So that would be cutting it mighty fine. I didn't get the "RF" at 36%, but I did get it upon landing, when it was down to 34%.

You never get a refill message when the airplane is in the air, due to it's not possible to service the hydraulic system in the air that is way you see the Refill message only when the aiplane is on ground.

Well, I didn't get it when I was preparing for takeoff with 36%....to clarify. :DI had tried to refill the system before takeoff and when that didn't work, said WTH, and proceeded with the flight, lol. I was expecting some "fun" in the air as a result, but it didn't happen...pretty uneventful really.

A addition to my previous post I forget to mention, Also the trailing edge flap should be retracted or both engine's should not be running.

thanks for the quick replies guys. but could you explain where this hydraulic fluid is then going? surely to maintain hydraulic pressure you would need to have a closed system so it seems strange to me that the quantity can so easily decrease. And would there be any difference felt by the PF?
