Do you have VSync on or off?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering what the majority here are using in regards to Vsync (both ATI and nvidia users.) Do you have Vsync on? If so, by what method? Have you noticed an effect on your FPS? I have an ATI HD5970 card, FPSLimiter to 30 FPS, 60 Hz Monitor and when I force Vsync through fsx.cfg, I notice a bit of reduction in FPS, so I keep it off, but the tearing is getting on my nerves. You?

Always on for me, don't like the ripping you get when panning around the cockpit view if it's switched off, just doesn't look real at all.

Depends on the airplane. For more complex planes I leave it off to reduce the FPS hit, for planes such as the ones from Carenado I have vsync enabled since those are very light on the frames.

Latest nvidia driver with vsync on in nvidia inspector. Bloody ugly without it.

Hi Hirgab, I have the same graphic card as you and I turn on v-sync via CCC control panel. I used Bojote configuration editor and opted not to force v-sync. Since it appears to me his tweaks are set to run FSX at unlimited and use an external framerate limiter to limit the framerate, I just run FSX with unlimited framerate setting. I don´t use any external framerate limiter because it seems that this card doesn´t like the use of it. I get great performance from takeoff to landing at most major airports with everything set to max including autogen. I usually fly with Qualitywings 757 each time. Anytime I get stutters which last just a few seconds, I know that Active Sky X is updating the weather then everything is back to silky smooth. In my opinion the performance I get with flying in FSX is just like FS9. I would really like to see the performance I get once I purchase LVLD 767 and PMDG 737NG next payday. I´m hoping my performance stays the same.
