September 21, 201114 yr One of the classic things that ###### many of us off. Here you have a new add-on that's clearly being developed in FS9 only going to be released for FSX. Check out the screenshots on the developers site. http://www.simw.com/737picv2 I plan or writing SimWare about this I hope others follow suite. It would be nice to have an updated 737Classic in FS9 and something like this makes no since. Heck I'll add the image here in case the developer takes the picture down do to all the complaints that may follow this post (hopefully Avsim understands). As you can see the new add-on is working in FS9. The other shots on the site mostly are FS9 shots as well but because FSX and FS9 can look so similar at times it's hard to prove. This shot is conclusive... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
September 21, 201114 yr Incredibly PMDG's NGX has set the bench mark now, way beyond any others and looking at (what is now) an old aircraft dose'nt have me fumbling for my debit card. Dave Taylor
September 21, 201114 yr As you can see the new add-on is working in FS9. The other shots on the site mostly are FS9 shotsLes, I have noticed that too. Someone in the FSX forum got excited about a 'native FSX model'. Well, I wouldn't be so sure...BTW Their classic 737 was quite a nice addon, I have made more than a few flights, but I never liked the VC.Now since I became a VC-only pilot, I guess the new (as I understand it) fully 3D virtual cockpit would be an interesting option. PMDG's NGX has set the bench mark now, way beyond any othersDave, out of simmer's pure curiosity as I do not own PMDG NGX, what exactly do you think is the way-beyond-any-others bench mark? I would sincerely love to know.
September 21, 201114 yr This is very strange...not the first time that wilco (won'tco) have done strange things of course... However it really doesn't make any sense to develop a product in the old sim for release in the new one, unless they are simply using the base of old code with some 3D gladrags and trying to pass it off as a native FSX product, at least that will be the implication for many. It may save costs but that ain't good in my books. The other thing is that many developers are really not considering the FS9 community any more, saying its dead - I really believe, although people like Aerosoft and PMDG will of course disagree, that there is still a substantial market out there for FS9, iFly and REX seem to have had no doubt for example. However, I can understand PMDG developing FSX products and then not seeing the benefit of doing the same retrospectively in FS9, Wilco do not have the same excuse, Having said that, although they say it is for FSX on the Wilco site, it does not specifically say it's NOT for FS9. If its based on the old code then Feethere will prob build it and there may be more info coming from their court, so by that token we may bide our time for while and see what happens. Just some musings really. Ray
September 21, 201114 yr Author Dave, out of simmer's pure curiosity as I do not own PMDG NGX, what exactly do you think is the way-beyond-any-others bench mark? I would sincerely love to know. To add to this I personally don't own the NGX but from pictures it looks dimension wise more like an Airbus versus a 737. The forward windows are much too large compared to what I've experienced in the real bird (both the Level-D sim and the actual cockpit). iFly nailed what it's like to sit in the real NG versus what PMDG's offering. Outside of the VC dimensions you can't deny PMDG out did themselves with everything else. iFly didn't model Avionics as much as PMDG did in it's current incarnation. We still have one more service pak to go to see what iFly ultimately does. Getting back to the new 737 I'll say this again how can a developer develop a model in FS9 and only sell it for FSX? I believe someone wasn't thinking when they posted those screenshots. The excuse is out the window for this add-on that it was developed for FSX only... I guess this bothers me as I wanted an updated 737 Classic series in FS9... I wonder will they pull this with the new updated Airbus as well? September 21, 201114 yr Is it really going to be only for FSX? That would be disappointing. I've had their old PIC 737 for a long time now and overall I have been satisfied with it, its not up to Level-D or Project Tupolev standard, but its not bad. It has been the only detailed 737CL with a VC for a long time. With an improvement of the VC and 3D plane model as well as the textures they could have had something very special for FS9, add a little bit more to the systems modelling (that area was good to begin with) and it would have been a true FS9 classic - much like the Embraer ERJ v2 - I really thought that they would do the same for the PIC 737s and can see no reason why not to, after all the ERJ v2 FS9 version enjoyed good success and sales. Will wait and see, I hope its not going to be just for FSX. EDIT:Looks like some of those FSX promo shots on http://www.simw.com/737picv2 are actually from FS9! especially the 2D panel one, and this one: Further EDIT: I see now that Dillon's already mentioned this in the first post. That'll teach me to read all posts fully before posting and not to post on the AVSIM Forums while processing zip files in the Library the same time......

Ray This looks suspicious and unless many of us say something showing support for an FS9 variant biding our time could be the worst thing we could do. If the thing works in FS9 they shouldn't suppress that development in favor of FSX. Those of us wanting an updated 737 Classic should let them know before it's too late... September 21, 201114 yr Hey Dillon +1+1+ on that How do you suppose we do that apart from on here? Wilco simply don't talk to customers and Feelthere only talk to their customers about the things they are interested in. This will not be one of them I suspect.

RayI'm an FS9 diehard and agree with the sentiments you've expressed Ray, but to be fair, Aerosoft is one of the few major developers that still are releasing new and high quality FS9 sceneries. No aircraft, I agree - I would love to have their Huey and Twin Otter in FS9. But they haven't abandoned us in the scenery department and so I just want to give them credit for thatCheersIan

Here's a thread I started on Feelthere's site which Wilco is pointing people to for some reason: http://forum.iemit.c...x?g=topics&f=17 From what I saw of the 2D panel shot that you posted first Dillon, I am certain this is an upgrade of the original FeelThere 737 PIC. That was an okay product but never came close to being fully developed. It has numerous glaring problems that were never addressed. So my guess is that this is something that began with their original FS9 model and is now being developed into something that they are going to market as a brand new product. I hope they will see the potential of including the FS9 market - I have been hoping for a first class 737 classic ever since DreamFleet made the decision not to upgrade their fabulous 737-400 for FS9...
September 22, 201114 yr I've been hoping Wilco would follow up with a Classic for FS9 which was up to the standard of their ERJ product, so I'm a bit bummed by the news that it will only be a 2D panel. Of course, such a release would give me an excuse to dust off my 50 North external models for a merge... Hopefully they'll reconsider. John G.
September 22, 201114 yr Author Vic doesn't have a good history of reconsidering. I don't know what this team was thinking with a decision like this. I wrote in the Feelthere forum I thought this was another team at first because Vic was so committed to keeping Feelthere's products FS9 compatible. I'm absolutely shocked this is a Feelthere project... Ray I believ so too. But they will probably charge it with hard-core money. CaptainSim is developing 737 classics, still the 100 and 200 version. I hope the will continue up to 500. I know it's for FSX only, but at least we have something to be happy with when we change to FSX.
