September 23, 201114 yr I have been trying this SID a lot out of EGKK, http://www.ead.euroc..._2011-07-28.pdf The LAM4M Straight ahead until I-WW D2.3, then turn right to intercept DET VOR R261 by DET D31. Crossing DET D29 at 4000 or below. I have been trying to hand fly this SID using the NAV aids, DETLING VOR and the ILS dme. using NAV1. However I always end up a very wide of the intercept couse, DET261, when I look at my attempt from VOR mode to map mode. The other method is a lot more lazy, using mostly LNAV, and letting George fly from 1000f after take off. What is the best way to fly this SID? In the NGX, using the NAV aids available? September 23, 201114 yr Sounds like you are going a little too fast, mate.Keep it slow (~ 220 kts) until you come out the turn, then accelerate to 250 when you straighten up. Adrian Burley London, UK

September 24, 201114 yr Takeoff with flaps 5 config, keep V2+20 (for noise abatement and safety margin), that was what I have done in a difficult departure procedure out of VNKT that has a steep turn and climb maneuver right after takeoff which was hand flown. Of course, retract flaps as scheduled. Have a nice flight! Roy Joven T. September 24, 201114 yr yes its very hard to fly a SID if you are going too fast, very twitching but manageable if the speed is reasonable as stated Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
September 24, 201114 yr Author I don't think it is the speed which is the issue ith me. In all honestly I'm flying pretty slow. And I'm good at flaps and sheduling them to the speed. Apart from speed how do other people fly this? ie using the nav aids. Do you hand fly, etc? What I wanted to know is how you tune the radios and course, and use the VOR and map displays, What is the best way of orientating yourself? Using the ILS dme and DET VOR? October 23, 201114 yr Author I was more interested in how other people fly it. I know some people say had fly and others just put on the A/P. which the best way to fly it? J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
October 23, 201114 yr up to you really. nav aids these days are just a back up from when the RNAV equipment fails, and for the old liners out there. Regards, Renzo Marcus
October 23, 201114 yr You "are" flying too fast!! You are not following he noise abatement procedure. Your right turn should be at the correct noise abatement speed for your a/c. When you have passed over the noise listening posts accelerate and clean up. In other words you will have completed your turn.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
October 23, 201114 yr I'm not a pilot, a friend of mine isand flying autopilot is according to company policyKLM does a lot of handheld landings & TO's everywhere, is what I know, they consider that good pilot training all off the time(it's also a dominant pilot permitted culture, of course)Asian pilots/companies (and Airbus pilots), I think, generally do a lot of autopilot whenever & wherever they can(which is a management 'dont break it $$$' policy)of course Heathrow when its really busy or Innsbruck Visual 08, only experienced pilots need apply2cts Intel 2500K | AMD 7970 | Win7x64 | 16GB | TV 40" | Touchscreen 22" | HOTAS | Rudder | MCP | FFB Joystick | FSX-SE | Prepar3D | DSC A10
October 24, 201114 yr This turn is no tighter than a standard holding pattern. These are typically flown at 220kts. Stick at or below that speed, 30 degrees of bank and the aircraft comfortably makes that turn. I have flown this SID many times with the NGX.Graeme Graeme Brown
