I also have this problem using the SAS Freja Viking livery and someone suggested I should start FSX with the default Trike a/c instead of the NGX but when you say you don't see this problem using the PMDG livery that rather suggests there's a problem with addon liveries...?

You should still start with the trike Richard.

System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A,  Intel i9-14900KF,  Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. WinWing FCU, EFIS, MCDU

I only have this problem with Liveries; except the default PMDG ... The crash is during the flight (1-2 Minuts after starting the flight).

It doesn't have to be the Trike, I have the default Cessna 172 as my default flight, but I think any MSFS default aircraft would be OK. You don't have to fly the default aircraft, just have as the default flight (which of course loads it in memory). Then select the NGX, change start location etc, and hit Fly Now. Kevin Hall

Okay I had Immediate CTD in FSX when I applied this latest Hotfix...even trying to load a default plane caused the sim to crash at start. This is what I did to fix it. Firstly before applying the Hotfix Go into your fsx\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG\ (this is your route FSX folder for some in program filesx86 others will have it in a route drive, maybe called microsoft games etc) Go into each folder for the 4 737's you will have installed and rename the Aircraft.cfg folder to Aircraft.xxx Run the Hotfix Copy from your Aircraft.xxx the entries for your liveries into the newely created Aircraft.cfg folders. Next go into your FSX.cfg which is stored in \\FSX-PC\Users\James\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and remove from there all of the .dll config entries that refer to the 737, there are 3 in total - however you may find you have duplicates from previous patching. They will look similar to this D:\FSX\PMDG\DLLs\PMDG_HUD_interface.dll.ecqhzwiqeilzwratwwequzkrcuucqiokanzbicbl=1D:\FSX\GAUGES\PMDG_737NGX.DLL.llklzkbwueinqubaluqwcarewhwerwkbiezeolnw=2D:\FSX\GAUGES\PMDG_737NGX_3.DLL.eknhnzzienbinturnqkhzclbzriiqzaekkkcwlnb=2 also remove from there any startup entry you had (I use this as the default flight so that each time FSX starts it is loading my 737 from where i last left it) so that it just reads a blank situation instead. SITUATION= also remove if you have installed it the shader entries SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693500672SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500672 again just remove the numbers after the = Next go into your My documents folder flight simulator files \\FSX-PC\FSX- User\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files and remove any files that are saves for your PMDG 737 except any entries for the default cold and dark, short long etc. then go into the PMDG folder that will be in your root FSX folder into the 737 and panelstate folders. \\Fsx-pc\fsx\PMDG\PMDG 737 NGX\PanelState and delete again all entries apart from the three default cold and dark and short and long - there will be two entries for each one, a .sav and a .fmc Load FSX - accept the pop ups that will ask you about loading the dlls, twice for each one. create a free flight - select the PMDG etc... again you will get some pop ups. run the flight - once the aircraft as loaded then shut down FSX (this is for the shader config) Then start FSX again - all should be fine again - you can resecify a default load panel state again in the PMDG options - and create a default flight again if you wish. My FSX and 737 have been running solidy now for 36 hours - I have completed 5 flights without a crash, freeze, or reset. I left my sim on over night with plane parked up. weather updating etc, jumped in again this morning and now enroute to KDFW from KDEN, and still no freeze or CTD.

Lots of good advice there although I believe I did all the things you mention and still I got this PMDG dll unloaded error but will do more testing or else wait for SP1 which will hopefully cure all these problems.

Thank you Robert.I can also remember that it is not easy to resolve any problems, the machine that everyone uses, and more or less suitable as well, to make this great addon, I use my laptop on a screen more flat, so no easy question budjet, and priority.Excuse me for my English, I am French thank you. After Hotfix 4 I flew first time without CTD or freezing at IVAO.Amazing bird ! Thanks PMDG

Can you tell me why on earth this is recommended? PMDG clearly states that it is not a wise move when flying PMDG products. This I belive is due to the extensive system initialization proccess the NGX goes through on startup.
There is a common misconception that when loading a complexsimulation like the PMDG 737NGX that you should first load thedefault Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 737NGX.This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommendthe practice at all.One shortcoming of all PMDG products for FSX is that ourproducts do not like to be “re-loaded.” This means that if youhave one variant of the airplane selected and running within thesimulation world (say, a 737-800 with winglets) and you wish tochange liveries to a different 737-800 with winglets, you may runinto a simulator lock-up if this is not done carefully.Getting around this limitation is simple: Load a different variantfrom the one you currently have loaded in the simulator. Usingour example above, since we are already flying a 737-800 withwinglets, simply choose a 737-800 or a 737-900, and thenchoose the 737-800 winglet model you wanted in the first place. This easy method will keep you from having to reload FSX whenswitching between liveries!

I also remember reading this in the doc but maybe things changed after all hotfixes because obviously some people are able to avoid CTDs by starting with a default FSX a/c.Just got home and I'm looking forward to try this method tonight and see if it cures my CTDs as well.

Unfortunately after HF4 i'm having problems too. Before, crashes were easy to fix but now i'm out of idea's and don't want to completely reïnstall. I had 100+ hours before this HF and since only once got to flight altitude, switched to windowed mode and crash. I noticed that HUD_interface_dll gets loaded at FSX startup, even with a cessna in the saved flight. Was this always the case? I also noticed that Recirculation fans can be switched off/on with the Cabin Util switch.

After Hotfix 4 I flew first time without CTD or freezing at IVAO.
Now counting 22 landings/flights without problems in a row. ;)

I didn't say you had to load the Cessna, as in select "fly now" and be on the runway in it. I said make it the aircraft for your default flight. If PMDG say this is wrong, the corollary of this is that they advise us to have a PMDG aircraft for the default flight. After all, the default flight has to contain an aircraft of some kind. Having a complex addon such as a PMDG sim as default could make it very awkward if you actually wanted to fly something else instead. Some other addons DO require a default aircraft to be preloaded. If someone from PMDG could make their advice clear regarding the default flight, I'd be happy to try and follow it. Kevin Hall
