Not enough data on the AC. They won't do a plane thats only been flying for a day. Wait a year, then reask

The 787 has been flying since 2009. It's first customer delivery was a day ago. And don't wait a year to ask, we'd all like to see it at some point. I'm sure it will come down to Boeing's willingness to share performance data with PMDG.

Its not all about performance data. Access to photos of flightdecks etc are critical for VC to be modelled accurately. I'm sure eventually PMDG will have this available to them and we will see a 787, but its probably a long way down the track

I guess you haven't read about how much access Boeing gave them to the 737, and if you keep up with your industry news, the Boeing factory tarmacs are flooded with undelivered 787s. There would be no problem obtaining detailed pics of the flight deck and the rest of the aircraft should they chose to do so.

Actually I dont think Boeing gave them the physical access, it was an airline that remains officially undisclosed. Boeing did provide a huge amount of technical data though. Also - I'm sure Boeing is still pretty tight lipped about the 787 since it's brand new. The NG has been out so long that there are no real secrets about the technical details and inner workings, but I'm sure the 787 is a different story. I'm sure it will happen some day, but that day will be years out.

Yeah, that performance data will be closely guarded for quite a while. Especially if it's underperforming. They are really taking beating with the 748.

That is correct. Almost three years worth of info...

The reality is there's little or no practical real world experience on the type for someone to sit down and figure out where to begin. 3 years worth of flight-test data hardly represents what one can expect a production model type aircraft to fly, let alone all the changes in systems logic, configurations, structure...etc...etc. The first production model hasn't been flying for three years...and even it will always be different as changes are made to improve performance/spec/etc... First production aircraft are typically a hodge-podge maintenance wise, will all sorts of cycle inspections and exceptions and SB's and AD's and SL's...ugh... Basically, the only thing we have is the type certificate...and you can't really gleam much from that besides control deflections and what oil you should use. (Although if PMDG is interested in an oil-filling simulator you're good to go!) The avionics suite is quite a departure even from a Boeing standpoint, and the reality the 'public' documentation out there is meagre at best. Boeing's not gonna release boat loads of technology to the FS world through a simulator for a while - that's CAE's job...not PMDG's. Or who knows...maybe they have....PMDG does have two "secret" projects on teh go...who knows they don't got some stuff stirring with Boeing and MS Flight and all that jazz. I don't even know how you start those big engine's without some source of pneumatic air...which the 87's don't got...mind blowing.

It would bee cool to fly a 787 in FS, but not much info is out about the aircraft, witch makes it hard to make.PS; why do people still ask for FS2004 addons? Really, Microsoft flight is just around the corner.

I personally wonder how they manage to have enough electricity to heat the leading edges of the wings for deicing. To me this is the biggest magic and question mark of this 'electric' airplane.
