No Strobes, Reversers or Spoilers in Replay

Featured Replies

Hi, I've noticed that when you replay your landings, you can't see the spoilers been deployed as well as the strobes operating or reversers opening. Can this be fixed ? Thank's ******* Hernandez

No, it's an FSX limitation having to do with complex animations. Use FRAPS.

or FS recorder freeware..james.

Instead of all of us giving you an idea of what to use, just remember to NOT use the default replay

But FS Recorder can't play movies outside FSX, how can I make videos or movies if I want to export them say to YouTube. ?

Record in FS Recorder then use Fraps to record the replay!

Since we are with the Replays subject. Do you guy know any other program beside EZDOK to place cameras at will, like for example at the runway end? Thanks
Same FS Recorder again.

What I do is record or replay using FS recorder. Then I render in FS recorder.But.. FS recorder will not do sound, and the rendering is not done in real time,so you can't record the sound at the same time you render if you want them tomatch. So I play the recording or replay a second time to record the sound.I use Goldwave to record the sound. That lets me cut it to the exact lengthas the video, and everything will match. Then I use a video editing program to merge the two together, and to producethe final cut at the bit rate that I want to use online. Lately, I've been usingMP4 as the final cut video type.If you have a real fast puter, it's easier just to use FRAPS and be done with it.But, with my puter FRAPS really whacks the frame rate. So I prefer renderingusing FS recorder as it will render a smooth video no matter what the speedof the puter, or the density of the scenery.

How you compress and record the video to upload on Youtube? I know using FsRecorder, but what options in FRAPS? After recording with Fraps, how you upload on Youtube?

Dunno.. I don't upload to youtube, so someone else will have to answer that..If I put mine online, I've been putting them on my own server.I do know that youtube videos are either in FLV for SD, and usually MP4for HD. So you would want to use one of those as far as the video type.Unless they have changed it, FRAPS records in AVI, so you would needto convert that down to FLV or MP4 for youtube. My FRAPS is a pretty old version and I think only does AVI. Prettybig files too..

Use FS recorder for the replay, record it with fraps. I use the Full option, not Half. Then I import movie generated by fraps into microsoft movie maker, then save it in a smaller/compressed format.

Don't forget to have your recording device/system sound turned up, otherwise it'll end up pretty quiet...like in the video dry.png

I'm not a huge video guy, and I just use the default. Yeah, the animation limitation is annoying, especially when it shows spoilers deployed on approach, but I've avoided FRAPS because I've heard its a massive resource suck and kills FPS. Is FSRecorder any better there?

FS recorder does a lot better job at replays.. Or I think anyway. And most all thenormal exterior functions will still work. IE: spoilers, reversers will be normal.I'm thinking you probably need a manly video card to run FRAPS smoothly. It eats my girly man video for lunch. Even on FSX planes, it's kinda slow.It would turn a NGX replay into a slide show on my box.FS recorder renders videos totally different than FRAPS. It records frameby frame with no regard to time. This is why trying to record the soundwhile rendering won't pan out too well, even if you "shrink" the audiodown to be the same length. Changes will not be at the correct times asFS recorder rendering will vary in time due to how dense the video is.IE: it will slow down when super dense, speed up a tad when less dense,etc..Also, usually when you try to shrink the audio to match, the pitch willbe too high. Landing callouts will sound like the britches are way too tight. :|But if you render using FS recorder, and then replay the same video againat normal speed and record the sound from it, it will match up as long asyou are careful to delete any non video blank spots from the beginningand end. If done carefully, they will end up the same length. Then you merge them in whatever video editor you use.One thing about doing a replay with FS recorder.. Many of the cockpitfunctions will have to be reset say when replaying a landing. And some functions may not show right being as the plan hasbeen canceled by the FMC once you land and exit the runway. As an example, this is a video landing at KHOU 12R.It won't be streaming since it's just a file on my server, butit's not too big. About 26 MB or so. It's also not too high a res,as the files get too big for most to D/L. So I stick with SD quality.Don't expect to see much instrument detail.. :(And this is at night, and really looks dimmer than the actualcockpit. I think all the various editing and rendering stagesadd to that.. :( My HGS really is that dim though.. I don't likeit bright at night. I keep it pretty dim. It's an MP4 video. VLC player will run it, if one doesn't have anMP4 player. It's a free download.http://home.comcast.net/~disk200/khou12r.mp4When the video starts, you can see me resetting the spoilers, resetting the auto brakes, etc.. I probably could have reset someof the autopilot functions, but I didn't do it in this one.The main thing I like is the videos come out pretty smooth. When I roll up on the runway, and the landing lights start toshow on the pavement, it's smooth enough to look fairly realistic.
