October 3, 201114 yr HelloI would really like to buy Aerosoft EHAM but no one seems to have anything positive to say about it.Is it really as flawed as most forum posts I have read here and at Aerosoft would suggest ?I am not looking for perfection just a working EHAM that i can fly into.
October 3, 201114 yr I agree with what others are saying about Anchorage X, it is definitely a must have. I'd also strongly recommend Madeira X if you don't already have it. Nice scenery with a very interesting and challenging approach. Personally I am not a great fan of the Tahiti X. For some reason I get a real performance hit at the main airports, which is surprising considering the modelling of them is quite basic.

I have EHAM and I use it a lot (I like KLM repaints so that's why I fly there). The only "flaw" I see is pretty hard impact on FPS since it's a huge airport and I use a lot of AI traffic (UT2& MTX) and the surrounding scenery (UTX) is quite hard too. Other than that I wouldn't know about other problems. You know, if you look at support forums, people there are making posts when they have problems. I don't know of any product with support forum that is perfect and no posts about bugs and stuff. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery

Well... it's not bad at all. Bit heavy on the fps side, but then again, it's a big airport so you're bound to have some performance issue's.Think the general idea is that Aerosoft could have done a lot better judging by some of their other releases around the same time (Barcelona X to name one..).For me personally, the scenery is acceptable and useable, but mainly because there's no alternative.Biggest dissapointments for me:- VERY limited surroundings. Even so limited that when on short final for 18L, you'll see where highway A9 ends (and the cars on the road disappear).- The 3 aviobridges Schiphol has, do not exist in the scenery. It's just flat, flat and flat. Highway A4, A5 and the "Hoofdvaart" N520 are on the same level as the taxiways crossing it. The cars just dive into the ground just before the taxiway.- Various inaccuracies with the signs on the ground. But... by lack of something better... If you want to fly out of or to EHAM, just go get it. Regards, Frank van der Werff
October 3, 201114 yr Here's the review I wrote about it: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0710/Aerosoft/Amsterdam.htm Overall, EHAM is a really nice add-on scenery, but the performance is rather bad. This is partly due to its huge size, and partly I think due to modeling. See, FSDT KLAX is as huge but performans twice as good (that's not a joke!). I think that because of this, some details which would have been nice have been omitted. One thing is the 3D taxiway bridges which Frank mentioned. Something else is that the airport it almost void of static ground vehicles, which I do miss. i like to have cluttered gates and parkings. For the rest, I'd say read the review. nothing much has changed in the scenery since the review was published. EHAM is one of those airports that makes me wish Aerosoft either had a 30-day refund policy like Flight1 or a demo version like FSDT or Imaginsim. I would really like to give it a shot, but frankly I hate wasting money on airports that dont perform well and I then I never end up using. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

October 5, 201114 yr I just wanted to say thank you for alerting me to the sale. I picked up MegaSceneryX Southern California. It's my first photo scenery package and I'm *very* impressed. It's amazing the depth perception I have with mountains now with non-tiling textures on them. Before it looked like I was about to crash into a mountain that was six miles away. There are definitely downsides to photo scenery but with So Cal not really having seasons that removes and most of the mountains being dirt and rocks, that removes a big chunk of them :)
