October 4, 201114 yr Just made a perfect landing at 24L at LEPA from ESSA on a flight that was just perfect in every aspect, the NGX behaved just like it should with no problems what so ever and with full ATC coverage almost all the way with great air traffic controllers! Started with Stockholm Control, then was passed over to Copenhagen Control and then Bremen Radar, Langen Radar and then some time on my own on UNICOM before I entered Barcelona Radar airspace before I was finally handed over to Palma de Mallorca Tower when ILS established on 24L. The feeling you have after this kind of flight when everything works out just perfect and being able to simulate the flight online where you get to talk to real people from different countries just like you would IRL and all this in a bird like the NGX...this is what makes me LOVE flight simming So...THANK YOU to all people that act as professional flight controllers on online networks like IVAO and VATSIM and THANK YOU PMDG for giving us this incredible a/c !!
October 4, 201114 yr Moderator Glad to hear you had a nice flight after all the troubles you were having. October 5, 201114 yr Yeah, I share the same excitement but I'm finding something is missing after a great flight or at times when I'm thinking wow, nobody to share it with (my wife or friends are not interested). That's the problem with the virtual world I suppose, VATSIM does help, just not enough controllers.
October 5, 201114 yr Commercial Member Awesome, I have yet to take the online plunge. I can't recommend flying online (VATSIM or IVAO) enough. I use VATSPY (free download) to locate where there is ATC coverage and then those airports I then selected which will have the most traffic when i arrive. It's made all the difference in realism for me and the small group I fly with. If you ever decide to give VATSIM a try, I strongly recommend using the FSINN software, and there is an excellent installation sticky (Google that). If you would like some additional help, we have a step by step guide (complete with all the web links) that will get you going in no time. If you'll PM me your email address with a request for the VATSIM guide and I'll be happy to email it to you or anyone else who would like it. Be well. October 5, 201114 yr Author Like someone else said, flying online is really taking things to the next level if you haven't already. Sure it can be some fiddling around to get everything set up and on your first online flight it can almost be a little bit frightening (at least it was to me) when you have other "real" people around you both on the ground and in the sky but once you've overcome that first new feeling there is no way going back. I can't even remember when I did any serious flying offline the last time!As for sharing your excitement I know what you're talking about but yesterday I actually managed to have my girlfriend sit next to me with her own headset and although she is far away from the kind of simming/aviation nerd I am :( she actually found it quite cool and said afterwards she was amazed how real things actually felt especially with the online voice ATC. She even helped me out reading the before and after landing checklists...guess I'm one lucky ###### :(
