Just about any aviation story written by Ernest K Gann that was made into a movie! The High and the Mighty (My favorite). Fate is the Hunter Island in the Sky Other favorites: The Crowded Sky James Stewart Aviation Movies: The Flight of the Phoenix The Spirit of St. Louis Strategic Air Command No Highway in the Sky (The oldest, but one of the very best IMHO) Good luck:RTH

PilotsEYE.tvhttp://www.pilotseye.tv/ These may not be 'movies' but I am neither familiar with nor watch those.Thinking of good realistic films about planes and people's jobs around them, I'd suggest the above.Plus already mentioned ITVV - very informative though getting old now.

Memphis Belle, if you love B-17
My personal favorite along Airport 1975. Add to this: Airport 1977 and Airport 1979 CheersIgnacio Big Grin.gif

"The Pilot" with Cliff Robertson is my favorite airline movie. Cliff (who still owns and fly his own spitfire) actually got checked out in a DC-8 for the film......

The High and the Mighty. A 50's classic with John Wayne.

I have to go with the High and the Mighty, too (from which Airplane! derived much of its inspiration. I have the Airport collection: which starts off very good with the original, then kind of goes downhill in the sequels.

Crash Landing: The rescue of Flight 232, the United Airlines DC-10 that crash-landed ad Sioux City after losing all hydraulics. Cheers, - jahman.

I have a very vague memory of a movie that I watched as a kid. I believe that it was about an aircraft carrier group that got sucked into some kind of time warp out at sea. They are transported back in time to some strategic battle which may have been Pearl Harbor or something like that. Then these modern day fighters go up against WWII era fighters. I was very impressed as a kid. Unfortunately it is only a recollection. Maybe someone here could help with the name.
