January 23, 200422 yr I keeping back to the 45.23 as the image quality in those higher( I have tried the 53.03 and 53.06 ) is rather blurry under the same settings.Anyone have the same experience? The performance of the 53+ driverswas better - probably 10 - 15 % - but I can't stomach the bad image quality. Maybe I doing something wrong.- Myles Athlon 2000 ( 1.67gz ), Gainward FX-5900 128MB w/45.23 drivers.W98SE, 512MB PC2100 Ram.
January 23, 200422 yr I went back to the 45.23's from the 53 series of drivers becuase they seem to be more stable and I had some strange video artifacts on the reflective surface of the aircraft.None of these problems occured with the 45.23 for my system.Scott
January 23, 200422 yr Hello simmers,I use an nvidia based card, Albatron Ti4800SE 128MB. Two hard drives, two OS. One WinMe and One WinXP. Both run with the latest nvidia drivers. Everything is fine in both OS. No need to rollback driver.PIV1900,WinMe/WinXP,512 MBnikolas/athens
January 23, 200422 yr When going from 40.xx to 50.xx series drivers you need to rethink your baseline settings. You cannot do a `like-for-like` comparison. That's one of the reasons they've changed the name from `Detonator` to `Forceware` The 50's work best with higher levels of anisotropic filtering, at much less of a fps impact than the 45's.Also, FS is very sensitive to driver adjustment. You should always delete the driver section from the FS9.cfg when installing newer driver, then re-set your display preferences from the defaults in FS when it boots. Finally, it's a good idea when crossing from the 4x.xx to th 5x.xx series to purge the system of all traces of old drivers using something like Driver Cleaner.Allcott
January 23, 200422 yr I'm in the final touches of putting together my new system (see below). Just waiting on the Hard drive which is coming today. I've battled with what drivers to use on my card. I'm going with the 45.23 since it supports 3d stereo glasses but also I remember when I tried the 5x.xx I had this crazy thing happen where when in full screen mode and I push the alt key the bar across the top would act funny and only show up as the cursor moved over it. This might of been because I didnt get rid of the old drivers before though and just upgraded.
