There appears to have been a small change in the official 'Flight' FAQ...

Um, what? Full fidelity means full fidelity. That's incredibly specific. How on earth can you consider it vague? Do neither of you know what full fidelity actually means?
No, it's an incredibly vague phrase. No one realistically expects a sub-$50 game to represent all the B747 systems with full fidelity. It's advertising puffery which the Federal Trade Commision defines as "a term frequently used to denote the exaggerations reasonably to be expected of a seller as to the degree of quality of his product, the truth or falsity of which cannot be precisely determined." Think of "The Finest fried chicken in the world" and even "As real as it gets" - remember that? Think of "the finest froied chicken in the w

That statement has been there since about the third update, hasn't it?

But if it really was "as real as it gets" there'd be no purpose in updates - they couldn't get any more real?

So... instead of releasing it on DVD, they're gonna release it on 8 track tape? ohmy.png
released on punch cards, UPS delivery is 300$

"retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect" I know what I've come to expect. That's not a good thing. Now, if they said that they're going to improve on it, great. Agreed though - this means absolutely nothing, since it isn't saying anything about the flight model - rather, what people expect. Feh.

Sorry I was referring to "retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect"

Certainly does not look like it will be XBOX Hawaii only. Guess time will tell. As I posted in other threads, whatever you do, don't run out on the first day to get it, wait for the reviews to come in so at least you know what you are getting into. Mark.

MarkW I for one will not be racing to the store as you suggest when it releases. I've learned my lesson on that one. As to the vague nature of their information, having worked in a giant bureaucracy I know that they all have a highly paid public relations person. Everything that goes public has to go through this person. And they are all afraid of their own shadow simply because they love the pay grade. The only screw up they can possibly make to jeopardize their job is to actually tell you something of value before the fact. So they don't ever do that even when they know it is a lock. They know that as sure as the sun comes up, someone else in the giant bureaucracy will frown on about anything & everything released to the public. And that's why they all have this PR person in the first place. Bob - Las Cruces, NM

My memory tells me that this sentence has been there for a long time and is therefore no answer to the statements of worry of the last months.

Just wondering... If no one runs out and gets it while waiting for the reviews, where are the reviews suppose to come from? I'll volunteer, as I'll be looking for it on the first day.

It never looked like it would be for Xbox. That's one thing Microsoft was very clear about after they anounced Flight. And yes, time will tell. I will not take you up on your advice though. I want to know what I'm getting into first hand, like I've always done with previous releases. I guess I don't share your and other peoples negative views.

Yes I know what it means and when I speak of having lawyers writing contracts with very nonspecific and vague language its because I speak with a good bit of authority here. Infact I had one drawn up just last week and lo-n-behold guess what Boilerplate legal speak is all over it? Yeah... its a very vague saying, its use is nonspecific relating to terms implied in fact or in law... to give the parties involved some leeway.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

With all due respect, when does a view become negative, is it when somebody is bashing a product (in this case Flight) or is it when a reader does not agree with somebody's post?

It's hard to actually bash a product until it exists.
