CC Cleaner if you want to wipe the garbage out. A straight format if you want to erase everything. @Killdisk if you want to erase for ever the formatted data

Yep ccleaner is very good, and maybe you should give advanced systemcare ago. Payware, but indeed one of the best out there.

Sorry guys, but all those tools do nothing more that couldn't also be done with the tools within Windows itself. And making you system faster by e.g. cleaning the registry is nothing more then fairy tale as old as Windows. So don't waste any money on this, keep it for an upgrade of your NGX ;)

Totally wrong. Using Tools within Windows is the same as using no tools at all. It does make a difference , same as using the windows defrag, comparing it with the O&O defrag its comparing day and night. Those tools make a difference compared to the crappy ones which windows give you ;)

It depends on your skills about maintaining the system clean. However, clean the registry is a bit difficult to do by hands, and a smaller registry will decrease windows starting time, on Win7 I found that the drive rarely needs defragmentation, but it is adviced to defrag your drive in a logicl manner at least one time to move to a close position on the drive all system files. The file cleaning utilities are a bit less useful, if you know where to find them. Also registry defragmentation will let you to give a boost on the system. The important thing to gain performance on your system is to kill all unwanted autostart programs.Te mostly used are te program updates like asus update, hp updater, adobe updater, quicktime updater and so on... if I need to update, I will use te program, useless that they must be running.Same for all other little things that are used to let you start a program faster as te various quickstart tray icons. The tray bar must contain less programs as you can. These programs add sometimes their start program in the traybar, they could be killed also.To kill an autostart program you can use msconfig windows utility.I use tuneup utilities in its shareware version to do a periodic maintenance, then I uninstall it.

A Registry tool such as the "Registry Mechanic" and also a defrag tool such as the "O&O" are verygood tools to have. (Since I have those LOL.gif )/ Leffe

It is neither required nor desirable to defrag an ssd, if you have one keep that in mind

just go with ccleaner, it does the job well and safely.
I have never used a registry cleaner and am not that savy when it comes to the registry. Is Ccleaner self explanitoy or do you have to be familier with what to disable or delete?
