October 24, 201114 yr To the producers of, and not in a specific order;1. ORBX 'west coast scenery...'2. REX EXTREME-overdrive3. Active Sky Evolution4. Shade5. Aircraft design studios....I think that today's flight from Tyslos Lake Lodge (in progress as I type) to San Diego at 12,500 feet at 14:00 hours (Monday) aboard the Quest Kodiak Amphib-Passenger...has to be the pinnacle of my entire participation of the flight simulation genre.I have been flight simming since the first edition of Motorola CPU processors (6502) came into production, and until today, I have never has such a strong physical reaction to ANYTHING that has been portrayed in one way or another on a simulation platform.ORBX--- You have created magic with your work of the Rocky Mountains. Absolute, sheer magic. Today, in late October, I am flying over lakes that are at about 8,000 feet elevation, with some that are full flowing, some that are skinning over with surface ice, and then some at around 10,000-12,000 feet ASL that are fully covered over. I'm flying today, over some peaks that are fully loaded with a capping of snow along the flight path towards San Diego, and then as well, some with their forested cover still surviving the change-over of seasons. I have never felt so compelled than today,to come to the FSX Forum, here in mid flight, and tell you so severely talented folks...that there is NOTHING out there to come close to your scenery packages. NOTHING! Thank you for producing the chills and thrills that I am feeling today along the flight path. Thank you!REX EXTREME-overdrive--- To the author...you have brought meteorological magic also to the plate! What I am flying through today is mind blowing...it is sending such waves of satisfaction through me...that I had to come here to thank you for your excellent contribution towards making up the 'whole flight' that is happening, but paused. Thank you! The cloud, ground textures, and airport textures are simply first class work! Active Sky Evolution--- To the authors behind this fine weather simulation software. I have the latest updates to all mentioned programs, and with that stated, you are like the artist---with REX EXTREME-overdrive as the paint colors and texture. Simply taking my breath away today. Thank you...for a wonderful program...it totally satisfies my wish for having purchased it. Simply wonderful work....Shade--- what a great program concept. A simple and direct intent and concept. What a MASSIVE impact to the entire magic today. This program is giving all the proper (using the Heritage setting across all days) eye cues to shadow and depth-of-field on the lee-side of the Rockies, the valleys, the shadow upon the lakes, rivers, etc...as I fly over the topography. This purchase has 'closed and locked down' the suspension of disbelief. I am flying today over REAL WORLD depiction. REAL WORLD terrain! This is what my eyes and mind are so most relaxed with. MY gawd....sending chills down my spine.Aircraft design studios--- Thank you for airframes (too many to mention) that have you believe you are in the real multi-thousand or multi-million dollar cabins. The Quest Kodiak is superb. So are all of those in my FSX hangar. Thank you for your also fabulous contribution to this hobby. Wonderful...simply wonderful.I have been waiting for this moment....ever since I started with it all in the 1970's. Today was the Jack Pot. I'm still in it....and flying over it.I heartily invite anyone with the same program bag-of-tricks....to fly out of Tyslos Lake Lodge....on a straight path towards San Diego, and after climbing out of the lake valley to clear the peaks that are at around 12,000 feet around you...settle in at 12,500, click on the autopilot GPS...and be prepared to have yourself shaking your head back and forth as you spot plane view with a downward bent...and, watch the fantastic real-world-depicted graphics simulation of the flight path topography, be created below your wing within FSX.If FLIGHT gets released. Good. But as it stands now....FSX's ability to create total suspension of disbelief...is already available. Right here, right now! Third party based....right here, right now....To M.S. for the base product. To all the 3rd party contributors of this hobby....let me say once more from a most impressed flight sim fanatic....THANK YOU! THANK YOU ALL!Mitch

October 24, 201114 yr Author Gee, what a Brown nose!! -------------------------------------------No....simply a sense of gratitude for the products that made up this day's flight. I wanted them to know this. This goes beyond the fact that I purchased the programs. That's how I got them. In how they are making me feel...by using them...was the impetus for the post.Mitch
October 24, 201114 yr Moderator Mitch, you should write a book or start wri ting a monthly column for one of the flight sim magazines. While its probably true that some stinkers get highly annoyed by your enthusiastic repetitive posts, personally I find them enjoyable and a nice break from what seems to be a lot of arguing and complaining that you see in these forums. You're not supposed to enjoy FSX, your supposed to complain about the frame rates the ATC the scenery, aircraft and whatever else comes to mind. Congratulations, your post is a breadth of fresh air. Let's all enjoy FSX we have waited long enough. A small rest before Flight is released when the chorus of complaints will once again dominate the forums as the circle of life continues on its merry way. PS I started with an 8088 then Z80. John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
October 24, 201114 yr Mitch,I echo all your feelings about FSX. It's certainly come along way thanks to all the add-ons I've purchased. MSFS

I'll except a hand-slapping for gushing one more, (smile). When I am truly thrilled with something though, it's a battle to bottle it in....perhaps not a great trait as perceived by some. If FLIGHT (hopefully) is something to behold straight out of RTM...I'll try to keep my hands away from the keyboard, LOLOLOL! I'll certainly try...but can't absolutely promise!!! :)))Cheers,Mitch (smile).
October 24, 201114 yr No need to apologize. As mentioned before, your posts are a welcome addition to this forum. I know that I've experienced similar "wow" moments with FSX and several addons as well. Alexander Alonso
October 24, 201114 yr Mitch,I always enjoy reading abiut your thrill of flying in FSX! Keep your posts coming!Cheers,- jahman.
October 24, 201114 yr The only concerns which may arise are some of a youth-protection nature in regard to the 'strong physical reaction'. But seriously, enthusiasm shouldn't be limited or even condemned in our small hobby regime. So keep it coming, Mitch.
October 25, 201114 yr Commercial Member Mitch, I've been reading your enthusiastic threads re. FS euphoria for many years now, and they're always the first thread I go for if I see a new topic started by you. You have an ability to really immerse yourself in the sim and I think you affect others to do the same (I know it always works for me). Always a great read, my friend, keep 'em coming :) .Jim

Rest easy (smile),...I knew the first time what you were saying in the original reply. But, you brought up a good point...there might be some silent readers, that also might roll their eyes at the sight of another 'go-getter' from myself. Hey...each to their own on that merit, lol. If someone reads the post I submitted yesterday...and can also see themselves within the context...then that puts a smile upon my face as well. BTW...I rolled my eyes when I re-read my own reply to you, whereby I typed 'except', when as most knew..I meant to type 'accept'. I was typing fast...and didn't catch that one, lol!!! Now it's corrected. Happy flying, Jim!I was kidding, hence the smiley!! I actually agree with what you posted!!!------------------------------------------------------------------------I took it with good humor, as well! :)Mitch'er
