I think its just a higher clocked a binned 2600k, so you get the better ones from the batch.

Definitely not worth $50 more. While the stock clock is higher, that doesn't necessarily mean it will reach 5.0GHz any easier than a 2600k. If it was only $10 or $20 more than the 2600k, I might say do it, but I think the 2500k is still your best bet.You ought to be able to find the 2500k for $180 if you shop around. Enjoy it now, then sell it for $125 to $150 when Ivy Bridge comes out, and then enjoy 22nm trigate w/PCI-E 3.0 goodness! All said and done, you will have spent less than or very close to the 2600k/2700k and you will definitely be ahead of it.

Corey I see your on a 2600K, Would you say if you had to do it over you would go 2500K or just made the statement in reference to the new "Ivy bridge" architech coming out. The number on that 2700K are quite impressive!
I would have done the 2500K and upgraded my GPU to the 560TI.
Wow - that's a ballsy sales strategy! 5.2 surely requires 1.5+ volts even for a cherry picked 2700k. I would be interested in seeing how many of their customers have stability issues down the road.

The press release says: "ORIGIN systems feature a 1 to 3 year free shipping and free part replacement warranty".They seem fairly confident of what they are doing. Perhaps the price of the warranty covers replacing the CPU with an IB? :Big Grin:Cheers,- jahman.

Either that or they're making enough profit on the system to begin with...
