PMDG, now you have to produce an ATC

Thats exactly why i dont care about long haulers like the 777. I repeat my mantra: stick with short to med range planes. An A320 would be great. Or some business Jet.
I would be curious to know what 767/777 pilots do when flying a 10 hours flight, therefore the very average 767/777 routine. How many vacation days do they have to take ?

If it wasn't for the strong coffee, radios, position reporting, eating out of boredom, and heated discussions about solving the worlds problems, we would be asleep. I don't fly heavies any more, but theG-5 has similar long legs. There is a lot of busy work like oceanic plotting charts, fuel/flight plan cross checks, training, and storm dodging. You are allowed to have a work/rest plan so that guys can take naps. Usually you have extra pilots or new guys who we refer to as cruise pilots. these guys hold it down so that you can get up, stretch, or take a nap. My longest flight was 19.1 hours but that included air refueling.

I like really a lot to listen to real liners opinions, thanks a lot, much appreciated. But what a guy is supposed to do within a simulator under the same circumstances ?If one day you would like to post few short ( or long ones if you care, better ! ) real life stories I will be really interested on reading them and I assume everybody here as well.Thx in advance

Why not ask PMDG to create an all new simulator. 64 bit, scalable, add-on friendly, oh-yeah.
I agree, they should get started straight away. Hopefully it'll be ready by next Christmas Praying.gifWhere do I leave my deposit?

Sure, I have a quick hop tonight and afterward i'll share some stories

JosThere have been a few posts in the RC forum talking about the features, based on what RC can currently do i think RC5 will be awesome when it finally comes out

Yeah i don't personally think atc is PMDG area not saying they coud'nt produce such a product , just there planes are fantastic and for me i'd prefer them to concentrate in that area.Steve

I flew KDTW - EIDW last weekend online, full ATC coverage the entire duration and of course 1x sim speed. The whole flight took about 7.5 hours block to block. I spent the time communicating with ATC, browsing the web, watching the Formula 1 qualifying and chatting on IRC. I dont spend the time looking out the windscreen for 7 hours straight. That would be incredibly boring

Hi Mark II,Flew the NGX KBFI-PHLI-NFFN-YBBN over the last long weekend all done online and all done in real time. You keep busy. :)I agree with you, I'm not normally a long haul flyer. My response to your initial post was more from a point of view that you assumed everyone would buy it. I merely wanted to point out that I wouldn't and that that assumption was incorrect. I fly exclusively online and have no need for such an ATC client. The other part of my comment was simply acknowledging that the 777 is a logical step for PMDG and a clear hole in the FSX market, that's what I think they should be working on.

After 2500 hours online i can say with no doubt: Screw offline simming. Nothing like talking to real people over the radio :)

Issues with PMDG making an ATC sim...well for one no offence but I don't think actually any of the team have any knowledge, experience of ATC other than those that flew and were on the other side of it.Two...ATC around the world is massively different, in fact ATC in the USA is majorly different from the rest of the world, especially Europe. So what exactly would they make? More than likely a very American driven ATC environment, which would be very much of no interest or realistic to anyone else outside of the us.What would be quite nice is if vatsim and ivao gave up their spat with each other, and actually joined forces, merging some of the best bits from both, that way you'd find a better chance of being more ATC online, with better coverage. It would benefit the whole community rather than this pointless division.Online ATC is the best way to go, be nice if someone would help with development of better pilot clients, to make more uptake easier. Benefits of online ATC is when you fly into the states in general you will get the thrill of experiencing of ATC as it is in the states, fly into Europe and procedures and styles will emulate that...which makes it so more immersive. In respect to the 777...not that appealing to me either...rather see the 747 updated to present standards along with an sdk so it can be used with hardware. Or finally see someone make a decent airbus...amazes me it taken so long considering making one would allow very easily to have both long haul a340 and short haul a320 on the market.Long haul flying I do, often online, I've flown round the world multiple times in 747' 767 and most recently the 737(although obviously shorter hops) what I do in between, is pretty much what real world ops are...I eat, drink, use my laptop to view forums, research stuff. Do my work etc...excellent way of making a working from home day go quicker!

Regards

I know there are some rumors that MSF won't have ATC and I'm for one thinking that it is great, 'cuz we won't bother with default nonsense and get a normal one :D. Make it as light as possible and we'll pack it with awesome add-ons :D. I just hope it would support major FSX add ons :D.
