ActiveSky v6.5 and Windows 7 64

Recommended Posts

I've just updated my system to Win7x64 and re-installed ActiveSky v6.5. I'm not experiencing any issues as it appears to be working so far. The only thing that has happened is that Win7x64 displayed a warning when AS installed .NET version 1.1.So a few of questions...Does ActiveSky v6.5 still require that build of .NET or can it be removed? Is there a compelling reason to upgrade to ASE?If I do upgrade, how easy is it to remove ASv6.5 and install ASE?Please advise and thanks!Mark

First question, no idea, I run Active sky and have left that version in. I'm running Win 7 64 and it hasn't caused any issues.I run ASA as I can't get ASE running (tried but with no success yet, still working on it), but the features added over 6.5 are numerous and worth the upgrade in my view. ASG skies are still the best. You can leave both on, if you wish. I have and use ASG for skies and ASA for weather, it's a great combination. I can't see an issue with reoving 6.5 if you want to.Hope this helps.

Thanks Charlie! It does help...I was just a bit concerned when I saw the warning from Microsoft popup. I mean, it's Microsoft saying that it doesn't like .NET v1.1 on Windows 7x64 but I suppose that's subjective. I haven't had any system errors yet and AS6.5 appears to be working correctly.Mark
