AI Traffic not using enough runway

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow flyers.Does anyone know of a fix for AI Traffic to make larger aircraft use more of the runway when landing. At Dublin, the traffic slows really quickly after landing and exits in the wrong place, messing up the flow of taxiing traffic. For example, I just saw a B777 landing at Abu Dhabi with in 1500 feet of touching down! if this helps I am using Aerosoft Traffic 2010, which is rubbish!PilotTrainer145

If you're looking for excellent touchdowns and takeoffs with any AI traffic program I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. I don't think I've ever seen a good and fairly good AI landing. They drop down to the runways without any regards for the safety of the virtual passengers on board, some even bouncing.Best regards,Jim

AI typically get tweaked so that they stop and get off the runway fast, otherwise they tend to roll out v-e-r-y s-l-o-w and you get disappearing takeoff AI (hold position) or AI go-arounds. If you go to Jan Martin's site (might try some of his fde mods) he has some test results that show how aircraft.cfg changes affect AI performance. Would give you an idea what to tweak on.http://janswebsites.110mb.com/flightsim/ai-aircraft-fde-settings.htmlscott s..

Great data! So, if I read the charts correctly, changing the "full flaps position degree" from 40 to 15 (for the 757-200 shown), increases the braking runway from 2800 feet to 4300 feet.In the case of my WOAI aircraft.cfg files, looks like limiting the highest [flaps.0] "flaps-position.x" value to 15 (or something less than what it is), would lengthen the amount of runway needed. This makes sense, but I haven't tried it.Sound right?

I've also seen airports that don't use a displaced threshold value for their runway and then extend the runway onto the (custom textured) threshold. Without the displaced threshold value set the AI craft will land on the threshold or short of the touchdown markings.
